Happy Independence Day!
We are moving right along through the growing season and the crops look to be off to a good start. We are on the dry side, with the majority of Champaign County officially being classified as abnormally dry, with the very southeast corner dropping into a region of moderate drought. We do have some rain chances in the forecast for the next few days so hopefully we will pick up some much-needed moisture. Wheat harvest is very near completion, and from what I have heard yields have been good but not great. But early enough we should have a good opportunity for double crop soybean. I had the pleasure of supervising the harvest of an Ohio Corn and Wheat yield contest entry last week, its always nice to be able to help with those. I’m eager to see the official results from the rest of the state! I hope you are able to make some time to celebrate our country this week!
