[ July 2025 TELE’GRAM ]
Established June, 2018
"'Encounter'...'Begegnung'... It is not only an emotional rapport, like the professional meeting of a physician or therapist and patient, or an intellectual rapport, like teacher and student, or a scientific rapport, like a participant observer and his subject. It is a meeting on the most intensive level of communication"
(J. L. Moreno, 1969)

Dear ASGPP Members,
As we step into July, the heart of summer invites us to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect—with ourselves, each other, and the work that matters. Just as spontaneity opens new pathways in psychodrama, this season reminds us of the power of presence, warmth, and quiet transformation.
Whether you're diving into projects, taking time to rest, or reflecting on insights from our benefit workshops, we’re grateful to walk this path together. This month’s Tele’Gram is filled with updates, inspiration, and ways to stay connected as we move forward—both individually and collectively.

Join Us for a Courageous Action workshop: Co-Creating Inclusive Space Agreements in a Polarized World
As psychodrama presenters, we are called to navigate the complexities of an increasingly polarized world while holding space for growth, healing, and connection. Our heartfelt intention is to create environments that are inclusive and actively anti-oppressive. Doing so requires courage, intentionality, and skills
We invite you to join the ASGPP’s Sociatry and Social Justice Committee on Wednesday, July 9, for a special online workshop. Our presenters, ASGPP members and members of the Sociatry and Social Justice Committee, are:
-
Daisy Martinez-DiCarlo (She/Her), LMHC-QS, CP/PAT, Psychodramatist, Trial Lawyers’ College, Founder and Director, Theatre for Social Justice, Inc.
-
Danielle Croom (She/They), LCSW, Psychotherapist, Assistant Director Online MSW Program at Widener University.
-
Sheila Dallas-Katzman (She/Her), M.A., Artistic Director of Ten Lanterns Transformative Theatre.
-
Jennie Kristel (She/Her), REAT, APTT, RMT, Registered Expressive Arts Therapist and Accredited Playback Theatre Trainer, Co-Director JourneyWorks LLC
-
Ed Schreiber (He/They), TEP, Psychodramatist and presenter in sociodynamic effect of sociometry.
-
Michael Watson (He/Him), Ph.D., Psychotherapist and educator, and active visual and theater artist.
Negotiating inclusive space agreements is a courageous act. It allows us, as facilitators, to model and co-create a foundation of respect, safety, and equity with our participants. By embodying and practicing these agreements, we help set a tone for learning, connecting and growing in spaces that are both safer and braver.
During this Courageous Action Workshop, we will collaboratively explore and develop concrete skills to help you negotiate inclusive space agreements with confidence and compassion.
You'll leave equipped to implement these practices in your own trainings and workshops right away. Let’s gather in community to co-create the change we wish to see—one space agreement at a time.

ADAM BLATNER COLLECTION
ARCHIVED ASGPP JOURNALS 1947-2007
This Collection documents the early writers and founders of psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy in the publication of these Journals.
Open (free) Access
www.PsychodramaJournal.com
We are excited to share with you that the approximately two thousand ASGPP Journal articles from issues published between 1947 and 2007 (as well as the issues already available online from 2013-2024), are now freely available on our Journal website. Previously, the majority of these articles and journal issues were available only in physical form and the number of journal copies was quite limited. These articles are now available by open-access to anyone anywhere. Our hope is that the accessibility of these journals will help to guide the next generations of practitioners, enrich forthcoming academic publications, and increase psychodrama's visibility around the world. This significant publication project is an important step in digitally concretizing ASGPP's historical archives and ensuring their availability in the future. This collection of historical articles has been dedicated and named the Adam Blatner Collection of Archived ASGPP Journals 1947-2007.
This collection is named in honor of Dr Adam Blatner, M.D., TEP (1937-2021), a long-time member of the ASGPP and a key contributor to many psychodrama conferences in the USA and internationally. Many ASGPP members will recall Adam's enthusiasm, his encouragement, his extraordinary curiosity, and his gifts for connecting people at conferences. A dedicated scholar, Adam wrote six widely popular books about psychodrama and related topics, and dozens of book chapters and articles for peer-reviewed journals. He received the ASGPP President's Award in 2018, in recognition of his valued efforts in support of the ASGPP's mission. Adam encouraged so many of us worldwide: “Please write about what you are doing. People need to know about you and your work!” Adam was a dedicated collector of psychodrama publications, and amassed a vast collection. In the early 2000s, he sold a complete set of the ASGPP's journal from 1947 to 2007 to Clark Baim, a Senior Trainer in Psychodrama based in the UK, and Adam encouraged Clark to secure the journals and make them available to the world.

Living Journal Initiative
Bringing Articles to Life: The Living Journal Initiative Needs a Coordinator
We are thrilled to reintroduce the Living Journal, a unique initiative originally created by Brazilian psychodramatist and current IAGP president Heloisa Fleuri, and launched during the past ASGPP presidency of Daniela Simmons. This program revitalises the ASGPP Journal by offering authors the chance to present their published work in engaging, live 90-minute sessions.
More than just a presentation, each Living Journal session becomes an interactive learning experience, encouraging reflection, dialogue, and even experiential activities based on the article’s content. It turns theory into shared, living knowledge.
The initiative is a collaborative effort of the ASGPP Research and Education Committees, and aims to:
- Celebrate the work of our authors
- Expand the reach and impact of the ASGPP Journal
- Foster ongoing learning and connection within the psychodrama community
- Support ASGPP’s fundraising efforts
To realise this vision, we are currently seeking a dedicated volunteer to serve as the coordinator of the Living Journal. This role involves scheduling sessions, liaising with authors, and helping to develop a consistent, enriching format for each event.
If you are passionate about psychodrama, education, and community engagement, we would love to hear from you. For questions about it, contact Carlos: Dr.Carlos@ActiveLearningInt.com

Samuel Yie, ASGPP National Office Manager

**The term 'telegram' is an Americanism dating back to the mid-1800s and comes from the Greek têle, "at a distance" and gram, "something written". The name Tele'Gram (with apostrophe between Tele & Gram) was originally conceived by ASGPP past president Daniela Simmons, whose vision gave this publication both its name and its purpose, created to provide an original meaning drawn from J.L.Moreno term of 'tele' - "An inter-personal experience, growing out from person to person ... and gradually developing the sense for inter-personal relations". (Moreno J.L. & Jennings H.H. (1938), Statistics of Social Configurations. Sociometry. 1. P. 363)
