The summer months are extremely busy for our public works crew. You will see them working on various projects throughout the Village daily. For the safety of both our public works crew and our residents, please do not approach the crew while they are working on these projects. It could pose a safety issue if they are operating equipment and are suddenly distracted. If you have questions or concerns regarding what they are working on or any other public works matters, please contact the Village Hall at 847-223-2032 and your question will be directed to the correct person.

21ST ANNUAL VILLAGE-WIDE GARAGE SALE

Mark Friday, July 25th, Saturday, July 26th AND Sunday, July 27th on your calendar as the dates for our 21st village-wide garage sale. The time will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

You can sign up for all 3 days or for a specific day. Save your trash or treasures

to be part of the action.

  • The village will put ads in the local papers (print and online), and social media, so there is no cost to you. Signs will be posted at the entrance to each subdivision.
  • A list of addresses for all participants will be available at the Village Hall on all three days with a village map. You may want to pick up a few maps to hand out to buyers who haven’t stopped by the Village.
  •  Arrangements will be made with the Salvation Army to pick up leftovers the following Monday for anyone who is interested.

Those who joined previous garage sales were thrilled with the results. Here are some quotes from residents, “This was the best garage sale I ever had.” “I’ve had 3-day sales and had fewer shoppers than in just six hours today.” “I’ll do it again next year.” We had shoppers from Antioch, Fox Lake, Gurnee, Wauconda, and Waukegan, as well as our neighbors in Round Lake Park and Round Lake Beach.

We hope that if you are considering having a garage sale this year, you will join Hainesville’s 21st Annual Garage Sale to make it even bigger and better. If you want to be included, contact Georgeann Duberstein by Wednesday, July 23rd. Arrangements can be made by phone (847) 548-9249, or email trusteeduberstein@hainesville.org by leaving your name, address, phone number or email address AND whether you want the Salvation Army to pick up your leftovers. We will assume you will participate all three days unless you specify a particular day(s). SALVATION ARMY PICK UP WILL BE MONDAY, July 28th. Label the leftovers “For the Salvation Army,” so the driver knows to take it. Put items by the garage unless it’s raining. Townhome owners make sure there are numbers by your garage or put the items by the front door. The driver will leave a receipt.

HOUSEHOLD CHEMICAL WASTE RECYCLING

AT PRAIRIEVIEW SCHOOL

Hainesville will host a Household Chemical Waste (HCW) event at Prairieview School on Saturday, August 16th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

An appointment is required. Please visit SWALCO or call 847-377-4950 to schedule.

Household Chemical Waste (HCW) is a term used to describe a variety of chemical products found within a household that have toxic or hazardous characteristics. Common HCW products include, but are not limited to, cleaning products, oil based paints/varnish, flammable liquids, automotive products and garden chemicals.

When disposed of improperly, by pouring them down the drain or disposing of them in the garbage, these products can contaminate the groundwater and harm the environment.

FOOD SCRAP RECYCLING IN HAINESVILLE

It's easy and it's great for the environment. We can provide you with a special bucket that makes the contents odorless. Just fill the bucket during the week and dump it into your yard waste container for collection.

The buckets are no cost to you if you sign a pledge to do the collection. We will deliver the buckets to you. Collection runs through November 30th.

We will have a limited number of buckets available at the Village Hall on Thursdays during the food truck events.

Please contact Trustee Georgeann Duberstein with any questions at (847) 548-9249 or trusteeduberstein@hainesville.org
