Dear CIM supporters and students,

This year's Minnesota Irish Music Weekend was a standout event, thanks to our top-notch visiting artists and you - our enthusiastic community of learners and volunteers! The visiting artists mentioned multiple times throughout the weekend how much they enjoyed the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend. In fact, one adult student expressed a similar sentiment to what Conal O'Grada said from the stage at the Saturday night concert, “Without a doubt, this is the best performing & teaching event I have ever been involved with to date.”

Thanks to our generous funders; Ireland's Emigrant Support Program (Department of Foreign Affairs), Culture Ireland, Larkin Hoffman, and the Minnesota State Arts Board for their financial support. Thanks to the Celtic Junction Arts Center and Holiday Inn for their in-kind sponsorships, bringing a spirit of hospitality and high production value to our teaching festival. And, a HUGE thank you to our outstanding 55 volunteers, who worked a total of 376 hours throughout the weekend!

I'm already looking forward to next year's Minnesota Irish Music Weekend, slated for June 11-14, 2026.

Our summer term is up and running and students (and instructors) are absorbing new music and moves from MIM artists. We're looking forward to three weeks of Irish music summer camps, starting July 7th.

The Irish Fair of Minnesota, the biggest single Irish music & culture event in our state - is coming up on the weekend of August 8-10. Do you have your tickets yet?! We will be there in full force with performances, Irish instrument petting zoos at 10am on Saturday & Sunday and a booth. Come see us!

I look forward to seeing you out and about this summer,

Norah Rendell

CIM Executive Artistic Director

THANK YOU TO OUR YOUNG LEADERS!

Thanks to Gabby Pasquerella for being the MIM Programming Intern - From teaching guitar at Trad Immersion Camp 1, assembling student folders, to editing social media posts, Gabby was extremely helpful in her role as MIM Programming Intern this year.

Thanks to Carmen Pasquerella for working as Norah’s MIM Program Assistant from March-May. Carmen’s attention to detail and knowledge of our students and programming brought so much to the MIM 2025 team.

From July 7th through Labor Day, Carmen will be working part-time as CIM’s Summer Program & Administrative Assistant.

Thanks to Adrienne O’Shea for coordinating Artist Transportation throughout the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend with her brother, Liam O’Shea. Both Adrienne and Liam did a fantastic job, as usual, with great craic to boot!

WE NEED YOUR HELP AT THE IRISH FAIR!

AUGUST 8-10, 2025

We're looking for volunteers to help with our information booth at the Irish Fair of Minnesota!

Tasks include setting up the CIM booth, staffing it throughout the weekend, and packing up at the end of the Fair.

Check our website for performance schedule updates in the weeks leading up to the Fair!

Contact Mattie Snyder with questions.

STILL A FEW SPOTS LEFT!

IRISH MUSIC & ARTS HALF-DAY CAMP

JULY 21-25

CIM Summer Camps start next week! There are still a few spots remaining in the half-day camp, July 21-25th, led by singer, flute/whistle player and dancer Adrienne O'Shea.

Campers will meet new Irish music friends, gathering each day to learn songs, try Irish instruments, listen to stories, do arts & crafts, and learn some myths & legends.

SUMMER CLASS: IRISH POETRY IN TRANSLATION

STARTING JULY 16

Poetry has always been one of the glories of Irish culture. In this online class, Dáithí Sproule will share a selection of Irish language poetry in English translation, choosing examples from as early as the 6th century up to the present day and filling in the historical and literary background. Dáithí looks forward to students bringing their own particular interests and loves to the conversation.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2025 FITZ SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!

We are very grateful for Tim "Fitz" Fitzgerald's impact on the local Irish music community and have awarded 3 new scholarship winners this year: Clark Matthews, Beth Bryson, and Henry Sween. Congratulations to these young musicians: thank you for your hard work and enthusiasm!
