Dear friends,
Summertime may be in full swing, but our chapter has been anything but quiet! Last month’s Philanthropy in Action Conference was a standout event—packed with fresh ideas, powerful conversations, and plenty of connection. A huge thank you goes to Conference Chair Victoria McKeon and the amazing planning committee who made it all happen. Your dedication truly showed, and our local fundraising community is better because of it. We’re also incredibly grateful to our sponsors and exhibitors, whose support helped make the conference possible and impactful for all who attended.
This month, we’re thrilled to welcome Jack Alotto, CFRE, for our July 14 monthly program, “Starting & Growing a Monthly Giving Program.” Monthly giving is one of the most powerful tools in a fundraiser’s toolbox—providing stability for your organization and deepening donor commitment. Jack will share practical steps for launching or strengthening a recurring gift program, understanding donor motivations, and effectively identifying and engaging prospects. A heartfelt thank you to our July program sponsor, National Nonprofit Collaborative, for helping us bring this timely and relevant conversation to our chapter. And for those of you pursuing (or just curious about) CFRE certification, we’re offering a rare opportunity: the in-person CFRE Refresher Course on July 15, right here in Fort Worth—the first since pre-COVID!
Details on registering for both events are in this newsletter. Whether you're reflecting on the lessons of last month or ready to invest in your professional growth this month, we hope to see you soon.
Warm regards,
Hillary Bessinger, CFRE
2025 AFP Fort Worth Metro Chapter President

After six months of combing through AFPFW Metro Chapter history stored in boxes and tubs in the Association Office in Dallas, I am about 75% completed in my first-pass review and sorting process. I aim to complete Phase 1 early this fall, enabling me to begin Phase 2, the second-pass review and sorting process to get to the documents our Chapter Board of Directors has identified as valuable history. I anticipate this phase being completed in the first quarter of 2026. My hope is that Phase 2 will also bring about a plan for digital storage of the hardcopy documents retrieved. Phase 3 will involve searching through digitally stored documents with the review and sorting process beginning again. And so, the search goes on, “no matter how seemingly banal.”
I ask all Chapter members, current and lapsed, to review their stored files (hardcopy and digital) of AFPFW Metro Chapter business and programming. We need to know what exists before we know what to keep.
