July 2025

Lower Providence Library News!

Happy July, Friends!

Summer Reading is in full swing here, and you all SHOWED UP in June!

  • 331 Patrons registered
  • 1,147 books read
  • 24,000 minutes spent
  • 64 book review written

This is the BIGGEST start to summer reading we have ever had, and it is so AWESOME! We cannot wait to see how you top yourselves in July and August! Don't forget we are doing weekly prize drawings for both adults and kids when you earn tickets in our Summer Reading Challenge.

It's not too late to sign up on our Beanstack and join the challenge!

Thank you to everyone who purchased a $5.00 bag of books during the Friends of the Library Bag Sale! All proceeds directly benefit the Library. Don't worry, if you missed the bag sale, there are still plenty of used books to help you get through the summer, for the regular book sale prices.

Adult Books: $1.00 Paperbacks and $2.00 Hardcovers

Children's Books: $.50 Paperbacks and $1.00 Hardcovers

Stock up before you leave on vacation, head to the pool or just to keep you entertained during the hot summer months.

June was probably the weakest reading month that I have had in years, finishing just two books. Unfortunately, neither are books that I feel compelled to discuss here, or believe would make for good recommendations. Luckily, it is officially July and I have a long, and hopefully strong list of books to read this month, including finishing Say You'll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez, and My Friends by Frederik Backman. When I finish these next up, I have planned With a Vengeance by Riley Sager and Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewell. I am both nervous and excited for both of these titles for opposite reasons. Lisa Jewell's last publication, None of This Is True, from 2023, was one of my favorite books of the year, and she has a lot to live up to with Don't Let Him In. However, Riley Sager's book from last summer, Middle of the Night, was a disappointment, and I'm hoping he can redeem himself this year! This month will also kick of the Great Emily Henry reread of 2025, starting with my book club pick, Beach Read! Hopefully by the end, Emily Henry will still be one of my all-time favorite authors.

Happy reading, and see you at the library!
