Honoring Robin Walker, FCPF Board Secretary!

The Fairfax County Park Foundation (FCPF) Board of Directors welcomed the McLean-based entrepreneur and REALTOR®, Robin Walker, as a Director in 2018. She was elected to the Executive Committee in the role of Board Secretary. Robin served as a valuable and engaged member of the FCPF Board through June 2025.

During that time, Robin encouraged others to join her personal support of FCPF, the fundraising arm for the Park Authority. One example is The Garden Club of Fairfax that granted funds for both The Woodlands Stewardship Education Center and Green Spring Gardens. Contributions from individuals and organizations continue to benefit our neighbors by enriching Fairfax County parks.

Robin's active participation extended beyond donations. She helped FCPF by applying her financial knowledge, social media expertise, and graphic design skills. In 2018, she created the I (heart) Parks decals, as pictured below with FCPF board directors, volunteers, staff, and supporters. Robin generated Our Giving Tree as recognition of benefactors and sponsors of The Moon Gate Garden project to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of FCPA's Green Spring Gardens.

The updated FCPF Legacy Circle brochure, designed by Robin on a pro bono basis, resulted in multiple five- and six-figure contributions to FCPF through a Will or other Gift Planning vehicle.

The FCPF Board is composed of volunteers to help attract support and develop partnerships that benefit our neighbors by enriching Fairfax County's 422 parks, improvement projects, and meaningful outreach programs.

Ms. Jae donates Paychecks to inspire

Young Gymnasts (and us too)!

Jae Kinder-Lemeshawsky, 'Ms. Jae', a gymnastic teacher at Franconia Rec Center, should really be considered a volunteer because she voluntary donated all her paychecks for the past 12 years - $20,000 to the Fairfax County Park Foundation (FCPF) to fund new gymnastic equipment for the recently renovated Mount Vernon Rec Center!

This very generous donation will ensure that the community has high-quality facilities and enhance local recreational opportunities, and contribute to maintaining the county’s status as a leader in parks and programs.

Ms. Jae is a much-loved teacher for 3–6-year-olds who brings a love of teaching, gymnastics, and a touch of magic to her students by pairing healthy eating with magic tricks. She also teaches sign language to promote good manners and respect, creating an inclusive environment that leaves a lasting impression on children and their families.
