Mercury Minimization Plan Approved and Implemented

After nearly a year of hard work from the MWMC's pretreatment team, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has approved our Mercury Minimization Plan (MMP). Over the next few months, you may see outreach on preventing mercury pollution of our region's wastewater as the MWMC does its part to protect our community and environment from harmful toxins. You can learn more about mercury pollution prevention on our website!

Join McKenzie River Trust for Living River Day

Every month, the McKenzie River Trust hosts Living River Day at Green Island, a beautiful watershed conservation site near the confluence of the McKenzie and Willamette rivers. On Saturday, August 9th, the site will be open to the public from 8 AM until 6 PM. You are welcome to come out and enjoy the beautiful trails and riverside landscapes in a place that helps protect the health of our rivers!

Pollution Solutions

Summer cookouts are delicious, but a lot of dishes also create grease or oil that have to be cleaned up. It's important to keep them out of your drains, because grease leads to clogs in your pipes and in your city's wastewater system. That's why we recommend putting grease and oil in a can and throwing it away! You can get your own pollution prevention starter kit by visiting our website.
