2025 Mission Festival

Our community in Franklin, Wisconsin, held its annual two-day Mission Festival on July 21-22. The aim of the celebration is Mission Animation and Fundraising Activities. This Festival has been held since the 1960s, when our Franklin House was constructed and served as a Seminary.

The Festival conducts a “Rummage Sale,” where Lay Xaverians and friends, volunteers, associates, and others donate their unused household items such as utensils, kitchenware, furniture, children’s toys, gardening tools, paintings, lamps, and other goods. These are displayed publicly and sold at prices ranging from 25¢ to $20.

Family fun was found in mission booths, a raffle ticket draw, dinner “for a cause,” a live band, social games, beverages, pastries, burgers, tacos, and ice cream made affordable for the customer’s budget. All the proceeds will go to help the Fathers’ mission activities...

Xaverian Volunteer - International

35 young people. 15 different nationalities.

One boat. One sea. One shared goal: to build peace in the Mediterranean.

Two weeks ago, we were strangers. Today, we are a family — born aboard the Bel Espoir.

Muslims joined the Catholic Mass. Catholics accompanied the Muslim prayer.

We danced while a new war was beginning. We shared deep conversations under the stars, surrounded by the vastness of the Mediterranean.

In 2023, Pope Francis dreamed of a project for the Mediterranean that would bring peace and unity to its shores. The Diocese of Marseille, under the leadership of Father Alexis Leproux, embraced this vision and launched MED25 — a vessel crossing the Mediterranean that set sail in March 2025 and will return in October.

The goal is to bring together young people of different nationalities, cultures, and religions aboard a single boat. Each month, 25 new young people (alongside ten crew members) depart from a different Mediterranean port to build bridges of peace.

Our journey started in Cyprus and was meant to head to Lebanon. Just 20 km from the coast, we saw the missiles of the conflict. Although we were forced to abandon that destination, it did not stop us from continuing the adventure...

Embracing Christ, Embracing All Creation

On June 22, friends of The Missionary Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima gathered for lunch and a special mini-retreat for this Jubilee of Hope, deepening the spirit of caring for our common home with all creation. Mr. Leo Racine, pastoral associate of St. Mary’s Parish in Franklin, Massachusetts, led our encounter.

We opened our gathering of eighteen friends with a beautiful video song, “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Rutter.

A new feature of the Laudato SI' Project at Fatima Shrine is sharing a monthly prayer guide that puts the poor and the planet at the center of our hearts.

“As your shepherds, your fear echoes in our hearts and we make your pain our own. Count on the commitment of all of us to stand with you in this challenging hour,” said Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), addressing the surge in immigration enforcement actions. He offered a reflection on behalf of the bishops of the United States and acknowledged that while law enforcement actions to preserve order and ensure community security are necessary for the common good, we cannot turn a deaf ear to the anxiety and fear in communities.

Prayer for Our Democracy

july4th_words_fireworks.jpg

“When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3)

Lord, please give us the wisdom to see the damage being done to our democracy by those who would mislead, deflect, disrupt for the sake of disruption and power, and deny the humanity of others.

Give us the courage to learn, witness, to speak up and out, to protect the right of all to vote and be heard.

Help us to connect to our fellow citizens and commit to their well-being.

Lord, help us renew and nurture our country’s ideal of liberty and justice for all.

“And as we engage, defend, and rebuild, may we trust in your mercy and justice, and follow your paths, committing our efforts to your wisdom and guidance.” (Proverbs 3:5-6; 16:3)

Help us, Lord, to resist tyranny in all of its forms.

Amen.
