Calling all foodies! The tastiest time of year is here with New Brunswick Restaurant Week returning, July 13-27. Get ready to explore an incredible array of flavors, from cozy cafes to upscale dining. The chefs are busy crafting amazing dishes.


Choose from over 20 eateries and businesses offering special deals for your dining pleasure. Join in the fun and support local businesses. There's something for every palate and budget:


Date Night: Treat your significant other to an intimate evening at one of our upscale restaurants offering candlelit ambiance and exquisite menus.

Family-Friendly Dining: Discover welcoming eateries with kid-approved dishes and activity-filled environments.

Casual Outings: Grab a bite with friends at trendy spots featuring street food-inspired dishes, small plates, and local craft beers.


Whether you're a foodie looking for a culinary adventure or someone seeking a fun night out, this event is designed to create special moments around the table.

EVENTS, PERFORMANCES, AND FILMS

Celebrate the 4th of July at New Brunswick's fireworks display at Boyd Park on July 3 at 9:15 p.m., with live music starting at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Food and other treats will be available for purchase at Boyd Park. Free.


Come for a night out on the town with Kroozin’ in New Brunswick monthly car shows, where the streets come alive with hot cars, live music, retail specials, and mouthwatering eats every third Thursday through September. This family-friendly event draws car enthusiasts and visitors alike for an evening of entertainment, community spirit, and downtown charm. On July 17, the show features Mustangs and Thunderbirds. No need to preregister to attend, but register ahead of time to have your vehicle featured. Free.


New Brunswick City Center is not just a stage for renowned jazz artists but also a nurturing ground for budding talent. Local musicians frequently perform at various venues, and the city's supportive community provides them with ample opportunities to hone their craft and gain exposure. Don't miss the final weeks of the Zimmerli Art Museum's spring exhibitions, closing July 31: An Eye for Photographs; Crossing Borders: Geometric Abstraction 1960 to Now; Napoleon: A Visual Legacy of Power; and Shifting Perspectives on Environmental Crisis. The Zimmerli is closed during the month of August to prepare for fall exhibits. Free.


The Yard on College Avenue offers free family-friendly movie nights on Sundays, all summer long. In July, see Frozen, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, A Minecraft Movie, and The Garfield Movie. Free.


Celebrate the vibrant arts, culture, and history of New Brunswick and Middlesex County at the 6th Annual New Brunswick Heart Festival. This family-friendly event will take place rain or shine on August 9. Free.

LECTURES, PRESENTATIONS, AND WEBINARS

Unity Square presents two upcoming workshops for community members: Dress for Success on July 9 will be a hands-on workshop focused on résumé writing, interview skills, and workplace readiness. Attendees will also have access to professional clothing and resources to help them take the next step in their career journey. And on July 10, they offer a Migration and Labor Workshop exploring the intersection of migration and labor, offering valuable insights for workers and advocates alike. The workshop will include artwork as well as discussions on labor and the lived experiences of migrant workers in our community. Free.


George Street Playhouse is getting the Acting Studio ready for the Fall. With youth and adult classes starting in just a few months, now is the time to secure your spot. This year, offerings include Youth Musical Theatre and Acting as well as Adult Acting on Camera, and Acting & Improv.

FOR KIDS

Keep Middlesex Moving (KMM) is holding a Bike rodeo and ride-along event on July 12 at Recreation Park in New Brunswick for ages 6 and up. The event will feature a bike rodeo, a chance to test drive e-bikes and e-scooters, and a community bike ride. The event is a great way to learn about bike safety and have some fun. Free.


State Theatre New Jersey's Summer Movies Series features morning and evening weekday screenings. Experience your favorite films on a gigantic 46’ screen, with a state-of-the-art sound system, in the historic theater. All movies include Spanish subtitles. Free.


Rutgers Athletics has a full schedule of summer camps. The Rutgers Athletics coaching staff will host a variety of summer camps and training opportunities for children of all ages and skill levels. These camps are led by dedicated and expert instructors who will guide children through their training and skill development.

SPORTS AND RECREATION

Rutgers Women's Basketball Rising Knights Day Camp will take place July 7-10, led by Rutgers coaching staff. Basketball instructional camps for players of all ages and skill levels. Activities will be centered around fundamental instruction and competitive gameplay.


Rutgers Men's Basketball will host the 2nd Annual Steve Pikiell Elite Camp, offering aspiring athletes an opportunity to train like the Scarlet Knights and learn directly from the Rutgers coaching staff. This two-day camp will be held on August 2-3, inside Rutgers’ state-of-the-art basketball facilities. Registration required.


Start your Sundays mornings with Yoga at The Yard by Garden of Healing Yoga & Wellness. Free.


Rutgers Football single-game tickets are now on sale. Game themes include Youth Sports Day, Military Appreciation, and Band Day.

SCIENCE AND NATURE

The Rutgers Community Farmers Markets, including the New Brunswick Community Farmers Market and Cook’s Market at Rutgers Gardens, are back for the season, bringing fresh, healthy food from local farms. The market offers multiple locations and days for convenient access:

  • Jones Avenue – Tuesdays and Saturdays
  • Kilmer Square Park – Thursdays
  • Rutgers Gardens – Fridays
  • College Avenue Student Center – Thursdays (beginning August 28)


Observe the night sky through a 20-inch optical telescope at the Robert A. Schommer Astronomical Observatory on Rutgers' Busch Campus. Public open viewing nights are scheduled for July 10, 17 and 24, weather permitting. Free.


Immerse yourself in nature at the Rutgers Ecological Preserve and Natural Teaching Area, a 360-acre wooded preserve between the Busch and Livingston campuses in Piscataway. Free.

AROUND TOWN

Be a part of a Rutgers University study of the genetics of breast cancer. Your saliva can help in the fight. Over 10,000 people have registered and the researchers' new goal is to register 25,000 people. It is fully remote and easy to participate. Free.


View lifelike statues by artist Seward Johnson, a New Brunswick native, that will be on display along George Street through November 1. Take a self-guided walking tour of the sculpture pieces and share photos on social media for a chance to win a gift card to New Brunswick's favorite shops and restaurants. Free.
