+ Teri's Treks
September feels a bit like August. Rinse and repeat. In addition to small house projects, running, choir practices, and daily dog walks, I’ve had the opportunity to spend more time with my grandsons. Soccer is back in full swing for the older two, and hanging out with my younger grandsons has been super fun. I went to a Crew game with some of my family last weekend and went biking in Yellow Springs with my son. It’s great to get outside in between the raindrops!

+ Nathan's Notes
We are now fully in back-to-school mode in our house. Ellie is in 8th grade this year and is taking lots of fun classes such as Algebra I and Latin II. She’s also running cross country again and finished in fourth place in the first race of the season (which earned her a medal). Ainsley is in 2nd grade this year and some of her classes include Spanish and Kitchen Science, which does actually sound fun. So far, she’s made crystals out of salt water and a honeycomb candle. She’s also enjoying piano lessons with her new teacher. Of course, we’re thankful that they’re both doing very well so far this year.

+ Tracey's Time
We are excited to support our kids through attending some weekend events. We are participating in the 3rd annual glow golf fundraiser for Cincinnati Broomball. It’s played on a par 3 course after dark with light up golf balls. We will also attend the 2nd PANL Polo Cup at the Bryn Du Mansion from 4-6 pm in Granville on September 20. The Play Polo Club events are free to attend on Sundays (weather permitting) and lawn chairs are recommended. Learn more at playpoloclub.us.

+ Mary's Moments
Over Labor Day weekend, my husband, Alex, and I took a trip to Cleveland and had a great time exploring the city. We visited the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum of Illusions, and as an unexpected bonus, the Cleveland National Air Show was happening that weekend. We were able to enjoy some free views of the show right from the lake, which made the trip even more memorable!

This chart shows interest rates from 1958 through September 15th, when yields climbed to their highest level since 2007. As the chart shows, interest rates had been falling over the last 30 years until very recently. Given the increase in government borrowing and the possibility of higher inflation, yields may remain elevated.

A healthy 401(k) balance can provide confidence heading into retirement, but it does not always mean you have enough accessible cash when a larger expense arises. Having separate, accessible savings, like our capital accounts, can help cover planned purchases and unexpected needs without disrupting long term retirement investments.
