Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th. Troopers. Adoptions.

Happy 4th of July! We're celebrating with our fabulous pups and keeping our Seniors 2 Seniors pantry open for any senior citizen of Anne Arundel County who needs food for their pets. It's our way of giving back and celebrating America's birthday at the same time!

Have you signed up to play golf with us at our 14th Annual Troopers & Tails event? Your ticket includes 18 holes of golf at the beautiful Fairway Hills Golf Course in Columbia, MD, food, drinks, and prizes! We still need sponsors to make this event a success, so please visit our Sponsor Website to learn how you can help.

We asked, and you adopted! We are so excited about all the recent adoptions at the sanctuary. We've highlighted them below, but a huge thank you to all who gave our seniors a second chance. Please continue to check our website to see the dogs available for adoption. You're adopting, and we continue to rescue! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for dog updates, too!

Check out Gizmo, Havana, Hendrix, Jack, Jay Jay, Layla, Maya, Numa, Popcorn, Rosie, Sheldon, Stella, and Tucker. Thank you for loving our seniors!!!

Dempsey Update!

It's been several months since Dempsey lost his brother Lennox. At first, his grief was palpable. We struggled on our own with Lenny's loss, but Dempsey's pain brought a sharp piercing to our broken hearts. Sometimes we want time to pause for our grief, but it trickles on, reminding us that life continues despite the despair.

It was the slow tick of time that brought our Dempsey back to life. This beautiful gray muzzle stood up after days of lying around and started interacting with our SDS family again. There were glimpses of the fun-loving boy he was before Lenny's death, and we held those close.

Dempsey is only 9 years old with loads of love to give. He's slow to engage, needing time to process new people, but once you're in, it's slobbery kisses, tail wags, and lap cuddles for life. He's the kind of dog that sees his people's souls and remains their loyal, steadfast companion for years to come.

A family would bring Dempsey the joy he knew with his brother. Time passes, but grief remains. However, love guides us to new places of peace. It's here that we find a path forward through the loss of a beloved friend. Give this sweet boy a chance.
