Hello Friends! Happy July!
I hope you are all staying cool and enjoying your summer vacation!
This month, we will officially be halfway through summer reading.
It is not too late to register on BEANSTACK and start logging your reading and earning prizes.
Summer Reading at Lower Providence Community Library will run until Friday, August 7, 2026.
To celebrate America 250 this month, we have two great programs
scheduled. First, on Thursday, July 14, at 6:00 pm, in partnership with Lower Providence Township, we will welcome author Emily Sneff, PhD, to discuss her new book, When the Declaration of Independence was News. Historic Trappe and its Revolutionary War Tent re-enactment will be outside the library on Saturday, July 18, at 11:30 am. This is a free program for all ages where you can come and see what it was like to be a Revolutionary War soldier!

Unearth History: A Revolutionary War-era tent Encampment
with Historic Trappe!
Step back in time and experience the daily life of an 18th-century soldier through this engaging one-hour living history program. Visitors will explore a fully equipped military tent encampment and learn about the clothing, equipment, weapons, food, and routines of soldiers during the Revolutionary era.
Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive storytelling, participants will gain a deeper understanding of camp life, military service, and the challenges faced by ordinary soldiers during the American Revolution.

Retirees: Get in the Know on Medicare!
Presented by James Hughes of the Hughes Family Agency, this educational program is for adults approaching retirement and Medicare eligibility. Learn about the different plans, important dates, and other essential information. After the presentation, a question-and-answer session will follow.

Forest Bathing: Summer Session!
Licensed Therapist and Certified Forest Therapy Guide, Stacey Vinci, returns! This workshop will discuss the slow-paced, sensory-guided forest bathing walks, wanders, and reflections, and how they are beneficial. If you love nature and want to explore mindful practices, this program is for you! Meeting in the Community room, if the weather permits, we will go outside on the park's paved trail.

This group meets once a month. Members share their prepared works by reading aloud. A monthly prompt is provided for inspiration, but it is not required. Pieces may include memoir-style writing, essays, or occasionally fiction. This is not a "workshop" style group.
We meet to enjoy one another's stories, although there is usually a brief comments/questions/discussion following each reading. The group is suitable for writers of all levels and experience.

Douglas Keene, the PA MEDI (Medicare Education and Decision Insight) coordinator for Montgomery County, wants our patrons to know that state-trained PA MEDI volunteer counselors have always offered free, unbiased easy-to-understand information about the best plans for health coverage for Medicare recipients.

to return calls and assist people with their Medicare concerns.
