Opening Prayer

3. For the Human Family

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fall 2026 Campus Ministry Cohort: From Chasing Relevance to Encountering Resonance

Purpose:  To equip and prepare worshiping communities to engage Institutions of Higher Learning in their local ministry context. IHLs include community colleges, trade schools, professional schools, colleges and universities.

Vision:  What would it look like for TEC worshiping communities to embody a way of keeping evangelism and discipleship, outreach and spiritual formation deeply intertwined as we live out our corporate life together in the world? How might our understanding of ministry alongside emerging generations be transformed when we learn to repent of seeing college students and young adults as resources that can make the church youthful and relevant again, and instead, receiving them as fellow children of God that we encounter and learn from in resonant relationship through Jesus Christ?

Who: Congregational Leaders (lay and clergy) interested in sharing in Christ's ministry on campus.

What's Included:

  • 6 Interactive Zoom Gatherings on Thursday Evenings, (9/24, 10/8, 10/22, 11/5, 11/19, 12/3 from 7:30-9 pm ET / 6:30-8 pm CT ).
  • These gatherings will include:
  • Best Practices for engaging students on campus and welcoming them into the life of the church.
  • Training & Resources focused on embodied, contextual approaches to hospitality, evangelism, and discipleship.
  • Practical Steps for building trusting relationships with all IHL Stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, & alumni).
  • Breakout Rooms for sharing, processing, & celebrating what we are learning along the way.
  • Between Gatherings:
  • You will be given tools and tasks to accomplish together with your team & report back to the cohort.
  • Access to our Cohort Substack to access resources, ask questions, and share ministry experiences.
  • 4 Monthly Coaching Sessions with Province V's Campus Ministry Developer (can be utilized in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027).

Cost: FREE to worshiping communities inside Province V! Congregations from outside the province can join for a fee.

Registration Deadline: You can wait until the last minute (September 23), but it would be helpful to reach out to Eric if you are considering participating!

Please email Province V's Campus Ministry Developer, Eric Richey.

Leadership Coaching Project

Coaching is the opportunity for you to get time to reflect on your experiences, dream for the future, and create an action plan.

Coaching is a dialogue between a coach and an individual, group, or team to find creative ways to solve challenging problems or improve team performance on key initiatives.

The coach's role is to draw out expertise through inquiry, curiosity, and challenges so that clients can stretch into their best selves.

Lay leaders, deacons, priests, and bishops are all invited to consider coaching. The focus on coaching will always be generated by the coachee; the coach is a partner who listens deeply and asks powerful questions to help the coachee set attainable and timely goals.

Women Clergy Retreat - 2026

A group of 25 clergy gathered at St. Francis Retreat Center in DeWitt, Michigan. The four-day event provided an opportunity for rest, connection, and learning from one another. We also spent time learning about the history of women's ordination, and watched The Philadelphia Eleven film. Many participants said that it was the best retreat that they had ever attended. We are excited to start planning for our 2027 event!

Episcopal Service Corps

Looking for a last-minute service opportunity? The Commonage at Procter Center, an ESC program, has an opening starting immediately and lasting through October. There are also a handful of openings still available in other ESC programs launching this fall. If you or a young adult you know is seeking a year to grow spiritually, build justice-seeking communities, and serve others, encourage them to apply as soon as possible for ESC at iam.ec/escapply

ESC’s network is also expanding in exciting ways, with more nonresidential service experiences available. These programs, which do not require participants to live in program housing, are great for people who already have housing secured in the area. There are still several great opportunities to serve in Boston and Los Angeles! Visit www.episcopalservicecorps.org to learn more.

Iconography Retreat

December 8-13, 2026

We are thrilled to invite you to join us at Bellwether Farm for an Iconography Retreat.

In the Christian tradition, icons are not painted — they are written. Each brushstroke is a form of prayer, each session a movement toward contemplation. This December, during the sacred waiting of Advent, Bellwether Farm invites you to write your own icon of Our Lady of Tenderness — one of the most beloved images in the history of Christian art, depicting the tender embrace of Mary and the Christ child, cheek to cheek.

No artistic experience is required. Only a willingness to slow down, pay attention, and let the work of your hands become the work of your spirit.

Led by Iconographer, Catherine Harrison and The Rev. Meghan Carlson of St James Episcopal Church in Wooster Ohio. Their pictures and bios.

Book Corner

A call for unity in the face of growing dehumanization of marginalized people–from a powerful voice in the dialogue on racism today.

The walk back on a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The silence across communities as the undocumented, primarily Latino population, faces attack. The grandstanding of nationalism and the intersection with white supremacy and ideas of genetic superiority. These issues are not temporary but rather exist on a continuum in the history of racism and divisiveness. Meeks, who has spent a lifetime fighting for racial justice and healing, offers collaborative strategies to fight systemic racism--together. She also addresses current cases with civil rights impact in areas such as zoning, voting, and immigration, and delivers a powerful message about the need for unity in combating these destructive decisions.

This moment, Meeks argues, shows that othering is alive and well in America and a continuation of white supremacy. She also believes the United States has been complicit in continuing the destabilization of other countries and the cycles of ethnic cleansing. Within Black communities, she explains, there is a hesitance to join the conversations, but the fight is one that demands solidarity. Resistance is necessary to dispel hierarchies of human value and combat the failure of institutions

A groundbreaking compendium of sermons that provide queer and inclusive readings of the Sundays and major feasts of Year B in the Revised Common Lectionary.

This trailblazing work—the second in the series—features incisive commentaries on the Revised Common Lectionary that provide inspiration for writing sermons with a message of liberation.

"This is so much more than a tool to help craft sermons. It is a resource for everybody and a holy, theological celebration of every body. Once again, Carlson and all contributors challenge, provoke, inspire, and, most of all, delight the reader in a collection of honest and evocative divine reflections. Read it not just to help shape what is said from the pulpit, but to embody, in the realest sense, the glorious life of faith in our radical, queer God."—Rev’d Canon Grace Thomas, Canon Missioner at Manchester Cathedral

Take the Five Hallmarks of Intergenerational Worship Survey

Lifelong Learning’s Roots & Wings initiative is seeking congregations’ feedback and reflections as part of its ongoing research and resource development. By participating in the Five Hallmarks of Intergenerational Worship Survey, your congregation will help shape the wider understanding of intergenerational worship across the church.

The Roots & Wings team’s goal is to gather 500 congregational survey responses in 2026 and then re-assess in 2029 to monitor growth across the wider church.

Election Engagement

We recognize election engagement as an act of Christian stewardship and a tangible way to love our neighbors. Our mandate to care for God’s world and people compels us, morally and spiritually, to vote—and to help ensure voting access for others. Election engagement also means we seek to stay informed; critically evaluate information before we share or act on it; and engage in respectful political dialogue even when we disagree.

Learn more below about specific ways you and your congregation can get involved in the election process, as well as what The Episcopal Church has officially said in voting-related resolutions.
