our daily bread...

We recognize that there is more to life than just physical nourishment (although we still struggle to provide for the needs of the hungry). When tempted by Satan to turn stones into bread, Jesus replied with a quote from Deuteronomy 8:3, "one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God." Our lesson from the Lord's Prayer is to pray for the necessities of daily life, including food. As it is with the body, it is also with our spiritual body. It needs to be nourished, not with physical food, but with a spiritual connection between God's word and our recognition of the voice. Whether through advice, or dreams and vision, or scripture meditation and reflection, we can learn to recognize God's voice as familiar as a family member or friend.

Attend Worship: Pastor Jason has encouraged an "A grade" of 90% worship attendance (missing less the 5 Sundays in a year). You can keep up your attendance by joining worship online through our Facebook premiere or our worship online page on the website. Join us in person or online... it will count!

Giving regularly not only supports the work of the church,

When we are able to give, it always deepens our faith
in loving and serving God.
Thank You for your generosity!

Does Your Bank/Financial Institution

Provide Bill Pay Services?

If so, you can make sure your tithe/gift/offering arrives whether you are able to attend or not! Often when someone is absent, their offering is also. Or you left it on the table while coming to church! You can set up Prairie Avenue Christian Church as a "bill" (we are not, of course) and schedule timely checks to be mailed at no cost to our address. Many members have taken advantage of our online giving portal, but it also charges fees each time! Avoid the service charges and fees by setting us up as a regular payment through your bank/financial institution. Without fail, your support will arrive. Set your "payment" plan today.

Imagine with Me: Church Narrative Project

Rev. Dr. David Anderson Hooker’s book The Little Book of Transforming Community Conferencing.

On this episode of Imagine with Me, General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Rev. Terri Hord Owens welcomes Rev. Dr. David Anderson Hooker of Counter Stories Consulting and Rev. Yvonne Gilmore, Interim Administrative Secretary for the National Convocation and Associate General Minister, to talk about the upcoming Church Narrative Project.

“While we are expressing ourselves individually, we’re all creating a world in which everybody can flourish the notion of the table where everybody can flourish, which is that, you know, beautiful symbol that the Disciples hold on to. And, so I think that deep in the foundational commitments, it’s there. And just have to develop some of the habits and identify some of the practices and possibilities that make it fully visible.” – Rev. David Anderson Hooker
