In Brief

Welcome to this week’s Members-Only Monday Morning Messenger from the Texas Propane Gas Association (TPGA).

To kick things off, TPGA provides an update on flood recovery efforts and ways you can contribute to the cause.

Next up, if you haven’t had a chance to read the July issue of the magazine, it covers vital advocacy efforts that TPGA, NPGA, and other state associations are pursuing in Washington, along with several news briefs to keep you informed on the latest developments in the Texas propane industry.

In addition, TPGA is organizing a CT Training session to coincide with the October board meeting. Your response is needed by tomorrow to determine interest.

Also in this issue, we’ve compiled all the essential quick links you’ll need for Crossroads.

Furthermore, we share a sneak peek at the state and federal agencies confirmed for the Regulatory Pavilion at Crossroads.

And finally, be sure to explore Quick Links for access to the Texas job board and the TPGA store.

How Can You Help the Propane Industry with Hill Country Flood Recovery?

In the wake of devastating flooding, now that flood waters have receded and the aftermath is more evident, the Texas Propane Gas Association (TPGA) and several dedicated member companies have formed the Hill Country Emergency Response Team, headquartered in Kerrville, TX.

We are deeply grateful to all propane companies helping in recovery efforts, including Heart of Texas Propane, for generously offering their Kerrville office as the base of operations for the Hill Country Emergency Response Team and creating an orphan tank recovery yard on-site. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Mark Holloway of AmeriGas in Houston, who—despite not servicing the area—immediately stepped up to head the Hill Country Emergency Response Team. His extensive emergency response background has been critical to the effort’s coordination.

The response team’s mission is to recover, control, and mitigate propane tanks in flood-impacted areas. This will be a long-term effort, with companies rotating in and out to maintain continuous support.

TPGA has established a consumer hotline to report displaced or orphaned propane tanks: 📞 888-407-7672

Please share this number widely across all Texas flood-affected areas, even if you are not in the area, to coordinate retrieval. Based on the reports received, the team will coordinate tank recovery.

How You Can Help:

  • Manpower Needed: Volunteers should be prepared to stay on-site for at least one week.
  • Service Trucks: Trucks with cranes and winches are beneficial if you volunteer in these recovery efforts.
  • Equipment Donations: The team urgently needs 1–2 winches donated, which have been essential in ongoing recovery work.

To volunteer or donate equipment, call the hotline: 📞 888-407-7672

Thank you to all the propane companies and individuals who have answered the call. Your service is making a real difference.

Need Cargo Tank (CT) Training? Tomorrow last day to respond

Based on interest, the Texas Propane Gas Association may host Cargo Tank (CT) Training in conjunction with our next TPGA Board & Committee Meetings in October.

This specialized training is required for individuals who inspect or test DOT-specification cargo tanks used to transport propane and other hazardous materials. Anyone performing visual inspections, leak tests, pressure tests, or thickness measurements must be qualified under 49 CFR §180.409. The training is essential for those who are already CT-registered inspectors (i.e., individuals working for a facility with a CT number issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation) and those who want to obtain a CT number and become qualified to inspect cargo tanks at a registered facility.

If TPGA garners enough interest from members, we will host the training.

Please complete the below poll/interest form by July 22, 2025, if you, your employees, or colleagues would participate in this training.
