Ed Solis grew up in San Diego, CA when it was a sleepy military town. He attended Ohio State University, majoring in journalism and participating in the Kappa Sigma fraternity and the Ohio State rowing club. Upon graduation, Ed was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
Marine Corps life would take Ed abroad: Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, and Australia to name a few. Domestically, he served at Camp Pendleton, CA, Quantico, VA, and the Pentagon. He completed graduate studies at the business school of the University of San Diego (USD), and ultimately retired from the Marines as the Director of the Marine Corps Drill Instructor School.
Upon retirement and graduation from USD, Ed started his corporate career at the WD-40 Company, where he serves as a sales leader. He also leads the local chapter of F3 (Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith), a fitness and leadership group for men. Ed says, "Fitness is the magnet that brings men out, fellowship is the glue that keeps them around, and our faith is the dynamite from which we can grow together as men and leaders."
Ed and his family moved to Colorado Springs two years ago and have immersed themselves into the D12 community. His son James begins Cheyenne Mountain Junior High in the Fall, and his son Toby begins fifth grade at Gold Camp Elementary. Ed’s husband Nathan absolutely loves the sunshine and natural beauty of Colorado Springs.
Ed and Nathan said that “the Solis family feels blessed to have found this amazing community of Christians; Chapel of Our Saviour has provided us a spiritual home and an extended family!”
Thank you so much, Ed, for your service on our vestry! We are delighted to have you, Nathan, James, and Toby in our church family.
