Farewell to Seminarian George Olokojo

Sunday, July 26th will be George Olokojo’s final Sunday with us at the Cathedral. George has been a wonderful presence in our community throughout his summer pastoral internship, generously serving at Mass and becoming an especially valued part of the Daily Lunch Program. His willingness to jump in, help wherever needed, and spend time with our guests, volunteers, parishioners, and staff has made a meaningful difference. Please join us in thanking George for his service and in praying for him as he continues his formation and journey toward the priesthood. George, you will be greatly missed, and you will always have a home here at the Cathedral of the Assumption!

If you would like to stay in touch with George, you can reach him at:

Consider Becoming a Docent

for the

Cathedral

and/or the

Archdiocese of Louisville History Center

As an historic cathedral in the heart of the city, we receive requests for scheduled group tours of the church and of the Archdiocese of Louisville History Center located across the street from the Cathedral. We also offer tours to Catholic schools of our Archdiocese on certain weekdays. In addition, the Archdiocese of Louisville History Center is open to the public most Sundays of the year after 9:30 and Noon Masses. Volunteer docents are the guides. Current docents are willing to train others who wish to become docents. You are welcome to shadow on tours before you commit. Docents for school tours must have current Honor Thy Children training certification and a background check. Call the parish office if interested, 502-582-2971.

Seeking Volunteers for

Extended Enrichment Program

at

Nativity Academy

at

St. Boniface

Volunteer study hall monitors and enrichment instructors are needed Monday-Thursday, 3- 5:10 pm for the upcoming school year. Our Enrichment Program begins August 17th and runs through May 6th. Suggested time commitment is one hour, one or more days a week. Nativity is a Catholic middle school that serves families that meet financial eligibility requirements in order for their students to have access to a private Catholic education. Our enrichment program aims at exposing our students to as many experiences and opportunities as possible to assist with providing an environment of exploration, pivotal to their personal development. This opportunity is great for any adult with a hobby or talent they would like to share with students and/or who could provide assistance with homework. Participation of high school and college students is also encouraged for service hours. For those above 18, a background check and Safe Environment Training must be completed prior to working with our students. For more information please reach out to Consuelo Santillan, ED/YP Director at csantillan@nativityacademy.org; 502-550-3300. To learn more about Nativity Academy, visit nativitylouisville.org.
