City of San Ramon and Community Celebrate Opening of New Bridge Over Bollinger Canyon Road at the Iron Horse Trail

Supervisor Andersen joined City of San Ramon leaders and community members to celebrate the opening of the new bridge along the Iron Horse Trail, crossing over Bollinger Canyon Road.

This beautifully landscaped and iconic bridge is a welcome addition to the city’s infrastructure, offering pedestrians, cyclists, students, seniors, and commuters a safer and more enjoyable way to experience the Iron Horse Trail. In addition to enhancing safety, the bridge improves efficiency. Trail users can now cross without waiting for traffic signals, leading to a quicker, safer, and more seamless commute on the Trail.

This project was made possible through strong collaboration among the City of San Ramon, Contra Costa County, Contra Costa Transportation Authority, East Bay Regional Park District and many regional partners, and included Measure J funding, reflecting a shared commitment to improving transportation connectivity, public safety, and quality of life in our communities.

TRUTH Act Forum Highlights

This past Tuesday the Board of Supervisors held its TRUTH Act (Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers & Holds Act) forum, as required by State Law (SB54). This law  mandates that all governmental agencies report on their interactions with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) annually.

Sheriff David Livingston confirmed that our Sheriff’s Department does not participate with ICE in any raids or activities, and his department is not notified by ICE in advance of their operations.

A representative from Immigration Legal Resource Center addresses the Board during Tuesday's meeting.

However, under State law he is permitted to respond to a request by ICE to provide the release date of someone who is in custody in the County Jail if that person has committed a serious or violent crime, as set forth in SB54. In 2024 there were 96 individuals who fell into that category.

Tuesday's meeting lasted close to five hours and drew a significant community presence, with many advocating for a Sanctuary County Ordinance. While this ordinance was not on the meeting agenda, and the Board of Supervisors did not indicate a desire to bring back the issue to pass such an ordinance, it highlighted ongoing public concern over recent ICE activity.
