Our mission is to be a community of Christian
worship, well-being and service

The week of July 24 - July 31

From The Rector

Home vegetable gardeners in New England have started to collect our produce, often with amazement at how much has happened since we put those tiny seeds and seedlings in the ground. I thought I was getting a late start when I planted my garden at Memorial Day. Last night I looked at my colander harvest: cucumbers, zucchini, kale, eggplant, cherry tomatoes, and fresh herbs. I prepared my dinner from this abundance and finished the leftovers at lunch today. Though I plant a garden each year, somehow the results never cease to amaze me. It always reminds me that God's provision is always more abundant than I could ask or imagine.

Our Scriptures from the Hebrew Bible and the Gospel of John will highlight this theme of God's abundance. Both are about feeding multitudes with what seems like an impossibly small supply.

Weather permitting, tomorrow morning at the end of our worship we will head to the Community Garden and offer a blessing for the abundance that is growing there. It has never been tended by more gardeners, some from St. Mary's and some from the wider community. We will give thanks for the garden, the community, the beauty, and all that grows there. There will be lemonade!

As we ask God's blessing on the garden we may reflect on our own blessings. There is so much for which we can give thanks.

The weather forecast has a strong potential for rain so we will be inside. We have adjusted the seating for more space beween households. You may move seats. Please join us.

Faithfully, Jennifer

Collect For The Week
O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Well Being
Plan Your Vaccination

The more people who are fully vaccinated the sooner the pandemic will end. Our commitment to vaccination is not only for ourselves and our loved ones, it is for the greater good. Getting vaccinated is a way of loving your neighbor as yourself.

The CDC has clearly outlined how much more is possible and safe when we are vaccinated. Please take a look at this guidance which is so encouraging as we seek to regather with fewer restrictions.

Service
St. Mary’s Community Garden

The community garden looks robust and beautiful right now. Come take a stroll to check out the beautiful flowers for our pastoral care ministry, the Sea Rose school plots, and our community plots bursting with beauty.  We will soon be donating excess vegetables to our local food pantries. We will bless the garden tomorrow after worship and there will be lemonade.
MLK Food Collections
Results and Looking Forward Announcement

Thanks to the generous food donations left at our services and at the Parish House, St. Mary's has contributed 914 pounds of nourishing food and sundries to the Martin Luther King Center Food Pantry from January through May of this year. Donations for May increased by a third over those the previous month! Please continue to generously bring non-perishable foods to donate as you come for Sunday worship, or leave them in the baskets in the entry to the Parish House. Salt-free or low salt canned goods are especially needed, but all foods are both much needed and welcome! A team of St. Mary's member volunteers continues to make weekly deliveries of donations collected to the food pantry.

Thank you for all your generous contributions.
