MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Friends,

Greetings form Fr. Saju!

There is a famous quote from Wallace Stegner “A brook would lose its song if God removed the rocks.” This is a quote with different layers of meaning. Although Stegner was truly referring to a mountain brook as he was a naturalist who worked to save the wilderness of the west, it also refers to the rocks that lie in each of our paths. For truly, we would each lose our song, our voice, our individuality if we removed the rocks. Therefore, it is important to embrace and celebrate differences, understand challenges of others, and their beauty. This will help us to grow beyond prejudice and racism to listen to the beauty of others' song as well. Help each one to sing their song, for they are precious.

This weekend's Gospel reading present before us two parables of the kingdom - the parables of the hidden treasure and the precious pearl. In both cases, the person who found it had to sell or let go of what he had to embrace or acquire the greater treasure. I hope and pray that we will be able to take this message to heart during this pandemic. We will have to let go of some of our comforts and what we want to do to embrace the greater well being and health of all by following the directives given by health professionals.

Praying for you and requesting your prayers,

Fr. Saju Joseph
