July 27 Greetings
Dear Ones,

It’s Monday, the beginning of another week, as we continue to “Be Church Together” even as we are apart. Thank you for the prayers for my brother-in-law Dan. He had a small stroke last week and spent the weekend in the hospital in Nashville. Your prayers may seem like just a little thing, but in fact prayers have a huge impact on how a helpless family feels. At this unsettled time, when families can’t be with loved ones in the hospital, knowing that lots of people are lifting these loved ones up is such a comfort. Prayer changes things, and most importantly, prayer changes you !
On a lighter note, it was great to see some baseball on TV this weekend, although I am not sure how I feel about the CGI fans in the stands. Actually, I know exactly how I feel—it’s weird! Many of you know that I am a Dodger fan, and it is okay to make fun of me for it, I can take it. Justin Turner already has his playoff beard going, I guess you need a head start when you are only playing 60 games!
This is the last week for the
Emmanuel is collecting backpacks and school supplies for the Family Resource Center with Humboldt Unified School District. The distribution will happen on August 8, so we have until Friday before the supplies need to be dropped off. School will likely look different for most kids this fall, but backpacks and supplies will still be needed. Last year we gave over 100 backpacks; so far we have received about 20. Please bring any items to the church by Friday, July 31 .

If you aren’t getting out much, consider making a donation to help purchase supplies. A pack and supplies is about $41 for a high/middle school student and $38 for an elementary student.
Have any ideas about where the
Endowment Fund distribution should go?
You can download the Endowment Fund Grant Application two ways:
  • Click on the Endowment Fund picture or
  • click here to visit our website’s Hot Topics tab.

Then print, complete, and return to the church by mail or in person. A request for consideration may be submitted by an individual on behalf of another individual or organization, or by an individual or organization. The application form must be received at the church no later than Friday, August 7 for consideration this year. If you have any questions or need additional clarification, please contact Kathy Austin, chairperson of the Endowment Committee .
Thanks to those who have sent pictures of themselves and their pets , I would love to see a few more, I have almost enough! A small aside: I captured and released into my backyard both large bugs that were in my bathroom yesterday…they decided to gather in my sink this morning. No bugs were hurt in the retaliatory action. This is all. The 15 folks who were on the Zoom Fellowship call yesterday know what I am talking about. Julie Schifferli and the girls were on, it was great to see them and know that they are doing better. You never know what you will learn at Sunday Fellowship—join us and find out!
