City Offices Summer Hours
Starting June 2, 2017, City Hall, Public Works and Public Safety Offices will close at 3:00 pm every Friday until Labor Day. 
Sunset Terrace Update
70th Street to 73rd Street
The Contractor will begin pavement removal the week of August 7th. Once all the pavement is removed, they will begin the installation of the new water main on the south side of the street. Those residents living in affected areas will receive a letter pertaining to construction in the coming days.

66th Street to 68th Street
The Contractor will be grading the street the week of July 31st along with placing rock for pavement. Concrete is tentatively scheduled for later in the week or the beginning of the following week. Once concrete is placed, the concrete needs time to cure properly. So access to driveways will be prohibited during this time.

2017 Sidewalk Improvement Project
The Contractor will continue yard grading on Del Matro Avenue between 70 th Street and 73 rd Street.  A temporary seed will be placed with final seeding occurring after Labor Day due to better growing conditions. 
Work between 70 th Street and 68 th Street will begin Monday, July 31 st. They will begin with driveway removals and then start pouring driveways.

Residents looking for a quote to redo the remaining part of their driveways can call Kingston Services at 515-221-9832. This work will not be part of the project. The driveway work is between the homeowner and contractor.

Economic Development Grant Program

WindsorHeights Announces Enhanced Economic Development Grant Program

WINDSOR HEIGHTS,Iowa - On Monday, July 17, 2017, the City Council voted to enhance their economic development program to correlate with their updated Urban Renewal Plan. The City first initiated an economic grant program in 2004 to help boost development in the community and since then has evolved the program. These new improvements will help spur new development.
On June 5, 2017, the City Council amended their Urban Renewal Plan to include an Economic Development Local Business Support Program. The City acknowledges the importance of the success of local businesses to the promotion of economic development in the City. The Economic Development Local Business Support Program is designed to provide public support to the development and improvement of local businesses in the Urban Renewal Area.  The City will provide fiscal support to the Program through the provision of economic development forgivable loans and/or grants to local businesses. The City Council has approved $100,000 per year for five years (2017-2021) for the success of this program.  Applicants can receive a maximum amount of $25,000 towards their project.
The grants will be targeted to assist local business owners with (i) fa├žade improvement projects; (ii) building or land acquisition costs; (iii) capital improvements; (iv) job creation or training; (v) grease interceptor improvements; (vi) accessibility improvements; (vii) utility upgrades; (viii) site development; (ix) other projects approved by the City staff. 
City Administrator Elizabeth Hansen states "This is a great opportunity for current and new businesses in Windsor Heights to expand or improve your current buildings."
To see if your business is eligible; in the Urban Renewal Area, you can see a map of the District on the city's website at or call City Hall at 515-279-3662.  Also, grant application materials may be picked up from City Hall at 1145 66th Street, Suite 1 or can be found on the city's website.  For the first year of the program, applications and all supporting materials for projects to be completed by May 31, 2018, can be submitted immediately to the Office of the City Administrator.  Applications may be accepted by mail, email or hand delivered to City Hall.  Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding.
