Fifth, preview the nearly 100 exhibitors headed to Galveston and help us thank the sponsors whose support makes Crossroads possible.

And finally, don’t forget to explore our Quick Links for easy access to the Texas job board and the TPGA store.

Update: Hill Country Flood Recovery Efforts Enter New Phase

Thanks to the incredible support from propane companies and volunteers across Texas and beyond, the Hill Country Emergency Response Team’s flood recovery efforts are entering a new phase.

We’re pleased to share the latest developments:

  • This week, the team will deploy an airboat to search remote flood-impacted areas for displaced propane tanks.
  • Tank Flare-Off: Tanks will be safely flared off this week.
  • Scrapped Tank Removal: Thank you to TRIARC Tanks for volunteering to collect and dispose of scrapped tanks.
  • Gratitude for Support: A special thank you to the Oklahoma Propane Gas Association for generously donating winches and to the many marketers who volunteered to send service trucks.

Because of your efforts, we are in a strong position and will begin scaling back operations in the coming weeks.

Your dedication and quick action helped stabilize a challenging situation and ensured the safety of communities throughout the Hill Country.

For any remaining recovery needs or to report displaced tanks, the TPGA hotline remains open at 888-407-7672.

NPGA Secures Extension on Temperature Compensation Rule

The National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) has secured an anticipated important extension to a rule in the 2024 edition of Handbook-130 regarding temperature compensation for meters.

Originally, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published a rule requiring all new meters with a flow rate under 20 gallons per minute to have temperature compensation starting January 1, 2026. The rule also made this requirement retroactive for all existing meters by January 1, 2030.

Recognizing the burden this placed on the industry, NPGA successfully negotiated an extension. Now, the retroactive requirement has been delayed until January 1, 2034, but only for states that adopt the 2026 or later edition of the NIST Handbook.

NIST and the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) agreed that the original four-year retroactive window was too short and acknowledged that a ten-year period is more reasonable.

Questions? Contact NPGA Vice President of Codes, Standards & Safety, Chris Wagner.
