Upcoming Sessions of Digital Threat Assessment on July 28th and August 13th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce that we will be offering two upcoming sessions of the "Digital Threat Assessment" training through Safer Schools Together. The goal of the Digital Threat Assessment class is to give attendees a stronger understanding of the current social media world, tools to be able to proactively identify student safety concerns, and provide strategies for dealing with online situations as they arise. IBHE Releases Guidance for Safely Launching the 2020 Academic Year for Institutions of Higher Education

The Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) has released guidance for institutions of higher education to help reopen safely for the 2020 academic year. IBHE's " Higher Education in Illinois: Safely Launching Academic Year 2020 " provides guidance in accordance with the Restore Illinois Plan and takes into account the possibility for changing conditions during the pandemic, noting that " Future updates will be posted at www.ibhe.org. In the event of a resurgence of the virus, or second wave in the fall, IHEs should be prepared to return to full remote learning if conditions necessitate." The document then proceeds to discuss topics such as general health and campus population, campus operations and staffing, protection of vulnerable community members, testing and contact tracing, campus space utilization, quarantine and isolation measures, residential life, and many other topics.
IPA Creates Anti-Racism Resources Page

The Illinois Principals Association (IPA) has created an Anti-Racism Resources page on their website. The page includes resources for school administration as well as tools for for teachers to help teach anti-racism to their students. The page also shares the link for an upcoming online Administrator Academy titled " Leading Equity Work in a Majority White School ."

Reminder: 4th of July Safety

With 4th of July weekend fast upon us, the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program wants to remind everyone to practice safety this weekend. From maintaining social distancing to firework safety, heat safety to refraining from drinking and driving, please remember to be safe this weekend.
