July 1 Marks Start of Hands Free Indiana Law
As of July 1, the Hands Free Indiana law went into effect. This law makes any use of a cellphone while driving illegal (except for cases of emergencies). Drivers may use hands-free devices or utilize these tips to avoid using their phones while driving. MPO Executive Director Anna Gremling spoke about the ban, which can be viewed here.
Survey for People with Disabilities
Indiana's Governor's Council for People with Disabilities is seeking survey responses in order to identify problems and needs in the community regarding people with disabilities. The survey is anonymous and will be used in developing the next 5-Year State Plan. The survey is available in three formats: People with Disabilities; Family Members and Guardians; and Disability Professionals and other Stakeholders. Click here for more information and to access the survey.

Due to the economic challenges from COVID-19, the state will hold on issuing a second call for Community Crossings grants in July 2020 but the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the State Budget Agency will continue to monitor and reevaluate options in September. Updates will be provided through INDOT's newsletter for Local Planning Agencies and will be sent out in future teMPO issues. Sign up for the newsletter here.
