Sacred Stories: Christian Storytelling Workshop

August 3 - August 24 @ 9:45am in the Fellowship Hall

Join Deacon Katie in a workshop that will explore the power of storytelling through our shared Christian perspective. We will dive into themes of identity, relationship, forgiveness, grace, service, and discipleship. Through small group discussions and creative writing prompts, we will share stories of what God has done, and continues to do in our lives. Everyone has a story to tell - Come share yours!

Announcements

A Call to Action

One of the clearest calls in scripture is to care for the refugee. In response to the resolution passed at the 2025 NC Synod Assembly, Bishop Tim Smith sent a letter to all congregations in our state, calling all to action in the holy work of supporting refugees. Please read his letter here, where you will also find resources to help you to get involved.

Food Ingathering for ABCCM Pantries

As one of St. Mark's Vision 2027 goals, the Christian Action Team is organizing a food ingathering throughout the year. There will be grocery bags in the Church pews on the first Sunday of August, November, and February. The bags will list items that are presented in the greatest need at the pantries. Please bring the bags back on the Second Sunday of the listed months, with the items listed and place them in the bins by the indoor play area.

Church Office Hours

The Church office will be closed on Thursday and Friday (July 31 & August 1).

Pastor Matt will be out of the office until August 11th and is not reachable by phone/text. In case of pastoral emergency, please contact Deacon Katie or the church office.

Worship Assistant Availability

If you are a worship assistant please confirm that the August, September, and October schedule will work for you and your family.

Benefit Recital Supporting Refugee Families

Saturday, August 9th @ 3pm

Gloria Sainio, a member at St. Mark's is hosting a benefit recital for refugee families at St. Mary's Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 9th. She will be accompanied by Eric Fricke. Free admission but donations welcome.

The Lord's Prayer

During the pandemic we used a chanted version of the Lord's Prayer during online worship. This summer the staff decided to bring it back! If you're not familiar with it, we made a practice video (thanks to Janet for the suggestion).
