This Weekly Update by the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program provides links to several new and updated resources from the Illinois State Board of Education, links to new guidance from the CDC for returning to K-12 schools this Fall, and promotes the upcoming Digital Threat Assessment training on August 13th.

CDC Releases Guidance on Returning to School this Fall

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released " Preparing K-12 School Administrators for a Safe Return to School in Fall 2020 " guidance on its COVID-19 website . While providing important information, the guidance also states that it "is meant to supplement—not replace—any state, local, territorial, or tribal health and safety laws, rules, and regulations with which schools must comply."
Reminder: Free Upcoming Digital Threat Assessment Class on August 13th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce a session of the "Digital Threat Assessment" training through Safer Schools Together will be held on August 13, 2020 , via Zoom. The goal of the Digital Threat Assessment class is to give attendees a stronger understanding of the current social media world, tools to be able to proactively identify student safety concerns, and provide strategies for dealing with online situations as they arise.
