Message from President Kathy Erickson
Greetings!

Happy New Club Year! This past Friday was the beginning of our 2022/2023 club year! I know for many of our members, the July and August months are considered “dark.” But some of us are busy behind the scenes getting things ready for the year ahead.

If you were at our Installation of Officers in June, you heard me describe my vision for the coming year- Service. Being that many of our club members travel through the summer, I’ve decided to take July to plan what that “Service” will look like for us as a club. I am open for your suggestions! I just want to be sure that we are out in our community making a difference in the lives of women and girls. One component of that service that is close to my heart is the time we can spend together volunteering- forming new friendships with members of our club and strengthening existing ones.

I have heard that our Fundraising Chairs have already met to brainstorm ways to earn money (along with our golf fundraiser) so we can bless our community with more financial support. Our new Admin Chairs are busy planning their first meeting, and I know Events is busy helping me plan the details for our annual retreat here in Chico (Save the Date! Saturday 9/17!) I also have spoken to our Giving, Communications, and SI Objectives committees and they are getting things going too! We did post our first draft of the Committee Assignments in the 6/21 eblast- but now we may need to adjust it based on need. We will be sure to reach out if we need you somewhere else than where you were originally scheduled.

Some of us are going to Reno for Soroptimist Development Retreat July 29-31. I am very excited to attend the workshops and mingle with Soroptimists from all over our region! Please message me if you are attending so we can be sure we all connect for rides, roommates, and rip-roaring fun!

Don’t forget about our Summer Lunches program! This year we have mixed in some evenings and morning coffee times too! Some of us met at our first one at Kalico Kitchen this past week and it was so nice to see everyone! Hard to believe it’s only been a few weeks since our last business meeting!

And lastly, Thank YOU for the honor of serving as your President for the coming year. I am truly looking forward to a year of growth- in our membership, in our community service, and in each member’s personal Soroptimist journey.
