Crucial conversations: How to Handle Difficult Conversations with Ease
UF Office of Professional and Workforce Development
Friday, July 24, 1 - 5 p.m.
Online
We are experiencing an unprecedented moment in time due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Fortunately, every day into this new reality brings opportunities for creativity and innovation to reinforce our connections, offer solutions, and keep professional development going.

We are excited that we have the capability to convert many of our onsite workshops to virtual classrooms. The virtual sessions we offer are interactive and engaging events utilizing breakout rooms to enhance discussions and engagement.

The next session, Crucial conversations: How to Handle Difficult Conversations with Ease, is scheduled for July 24, from 1-5.

This session provides information and tools to help you handle difficult conversations effectively and comfortably and improve your dialogue and engagement with others.

If you want to learn how to deal with a negative colleague, client or boss; how to reframe negative comments without taking them personally; and understand the best way to deliver or receive performance reviews then this workshop is for you.

It is imperative for men and women to appropriately display assertive behavior in meetings, take back a conversation, own their ideas and question what they don’t agree with. This program teaches what words must be avoided, what body posture stances should be utilized, and how to speak up for yourself and others anytime, anywhere, with confidence and aplomb.

eda consultants inc. wins FDOT Prequalification

Florida Law requires contractors to be prequalified with the Florida Department of Transportation in order to bid as a prime contractor on FDOT contracts. eda consultants inc. achieved this prequalification status for Group 8- Survey & Mapping services on June 23, 2020.

This prequalification for survey services is in addition to eda’s existing Group 13 Land Planning prequalification, awarded in April of this year. In reviewing Requests for Qualification Packages, FDOT considers many facets of a firm’s competency, including experience and training of personnel, past performance on contracts, and integrity & responsibility. eda joins a group of other prequalified surveying firms in the State of Florida.

“This is an achievement that has been in the works for quite some time, and we are proud of our accomplished survey department for meeting these rigorous qualifications,” says eda’s President, Sergio Reyes, PE. “This will open the door to more opportunities for contract awards throughout the state, and we are prepared to take on that additional workload.”

eda is a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) through the Florida Unified Certification Program/FDOT and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) with the State of Florida, and Small Business Enterprise (SBE) through Alachua County & City of Gainesville. eda has provided professional Civil Engineering, Planning, and Land Surveying services throughout Florida for over 40 years and offers a full range of land development services under one roof to a wide variety of public and private sector clients.
