This Week at Chapel of Our Saviour

D2 Food Pantry Poetry from the Pews

It’s Sunday morning and you feel hurried.

The kids aren’t yet dressed but you’re not worried.

You will not be driving and feeling

frustration,

Because this week you remembered a pantry donation.

You bought peanut butter, pasta and rice;

Then thought canned peaches, and spam would be nice.

You chose a bag for just these goods to be stacked;

Arranged space in the car where the sack stays packed.

So when children bring the baskets down the aisle;

There will be no regrets,  today you’ll just smile!

Chapel of Our Saviour will have a monthly food drive to bolster our contributions to the Pantry! We will start in July!

D2 Pantry always needs more food to meet the growing needs of families. Please add them to your weekly grocery list!

Every week, Chapel of Our Saviour collects food to support the D2 food pantry located at Stratmoor Hills Elementary. This weekly ministry is a part of our longtime and ongoing partnership with Westside CARES, our local homeless advocacy organization. We invite you to bring food on Sundays from the list below.

You can put the food in the colorful baskets in the narthex when you come for Sunday services. Our children then bring those baskets to the altar as we present our offerings to God. If you prefer, you can drop off food donations to the Allen House foyer Monday through Thursday, 9:00 - 1:00. Coordinate deliveries with DeSha in the church office before you bring it over. and call the office at 719-633-2667 when you arrive.

Vestry Spotlight

Nick Birger is extremely honored to be your Treasurer at Chapel of Our Saviour. Nick grew up in the Episcopal Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to moving to Colorado Springs, Nick served as an officer onboard fast-attack submarines in the U.S. Navy. Today, Nick manages market-based investments for families in Colorado and throughout the United States. Nick and Stephanie Birger are the proud parents of Charlotte (5), Violet (3) and Jack (1). Their family enjoys athletics, the outdoors, and relaxing during the 12 minutes each weekend when all three children nap at the same time. For the past two years, Nick has coordinated the Family Fun Zone at the Feast of St. Arnold. The Birger family is extremely proud to be members of Chapel and are inspired to give back to the church and greater Colorado Springs community.

Thank you so much, Nick, for serving on the vestry at Chapel of Our Saviour!

Godly Play

Children’s Ministry every Sunday, 9:50a

Our children gather in the Loft upstairs from the narthex (church lobby) or in the courtyard (weather-permitting) for a time of exploration and wonder called “Godly Play.” Parents and guardians are invited to sign in upstairs and children rejoin their families during the Offertory.

If your children haven’t joined us yet, they are most welcome, and we look forward to meeting and getting to know them.
