Community Cat Program
Animal Friends Alliance answers the call for community members and cats in need
Animal Friends Alliance is truly committed to helping the stray and feral cat population in Larimer and Weld counties through our Community Cat Program. Through our use of TNR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return), we slow the population growth of community cats, ensure the health and vaccination of adult community cats, and bring in many kittens that are eligible for adoption.
Last year, we helped a caretaker TNR a colony of cats, and through word of mouth, we learned about another area in need of TNR and kitten rescue!
From this mission, we TNR'd 23 adult cats and took in 24 kittens. Among these kittens was Florentine. His eye had ruptured from a tough time living outdoors and he was in great deal of pain, but with the compassionate care of our clinic and shelter staff, he will make a full recovery in his foster home!
Also pictured are five more kittens rescued from this mission! Sno Cone, Dreamsicle, Paleta, Mote, and Push Pop are as sweet as ice cream and currently snuggling and lounging in their foster home, getting stronger and healthier each day!
Without your support, we could not successfully trap, provide medical care for, and adopt any of these cats and kittens in need. Thank you for creating a brighter future for animals like Florentine! Summer Play Groups in Full Swing!
One of our favorite things about our Taft Hill Campus is our ability to have play groups for our shelter dogs.
Kallie has been with the Alliance as an Animal Care Technician at our Taft campus for two years, and has recently taken on the new role of Dog Behavior Coordinator. We asked Kallie what benefits she has seen for the dogs in playgroups.
"Since we have implemented playgroups, we have noticed awesome changes in our shelter dogs! The dogs get to go outside and play with their friends while burning both physical and mental energy. As a result, they get to come back to their kennels content and less stressed.
I am thrilled to take on the role of Dog Behavior Coordinator and help develop our behavior program! There are many exciting things to come!"-Kallie
Congratulations to Kallie on her new role and we're thankful for her hard work making our shelter a better place for our dogs!

We're so close to starting construction on our new shelter, we can hardly wait! We are breaking ground on August 26th and it feels surreal!
Thanks to your generosity, we are over halfway towards our goal of funding our new shelter, but we need your help to get us to the finish line.
One way to support our campaign is to join us for our month of fundraisers this August. You can dine out for animals every week and enjoy a fun evening of bowling at our Pins for Paws fundraiser on August 29. Learn more on our website.
If you'd like to learn more about our new shelter and help us meet our goal, click here. If you'd like to stay up to date on Bringing Paws Together, text BPTinfo to 50155.

Our 2022 Calendar Contest is OPEN!
We love to celebrate the year by looking back at all of the happy and healthy pets in our community. That's why each year we put together a calendar featuring hundreds of pets submitted by Alliance supporters.
We want to feature YOUR pet in our 2022 calendar! We are taking submissions now! You can submit your pet's best photo into the contest for one of the 11 large monthly spots, but all entries received will be printed somewhere in the calendar.
You can also request a special message on a specific date, or add your pet's photo to a specific date, or BOTH! Click here to learn more about the contest and submit photos!
Don't forget that our cover spot and a month of your choice are up for bidding in our live auction on July 24 at 6pm! See more details about our gala above.

Open Your Heart and Home to a Foster Pet
Who doesn't love having more animals to snuggle with at home?!
If you agree, we want you as a foster volunteer! The Alliance recognizes that not all animals thrive on the adoption floor — some need to be in a home environment right away, especially our younger or more shy pups and kitties. Some animals absolutely shine once they are in a home environment. This is why we need a wide variety of foster volunteers to shower our animals in love until they find the perfect families!
The more foster volunteers we have, the more animals we are able to care for and place with loving adopters. Click here to learn more about the importance of our foster program and apply today!

This month, our Happy Tail feature is the beautiful Kaya!
This silly girl was with us for just over four months! Her distinctive bark (or, as some say, her "scream") may have deterred some adopters, but we knew just how special she was. Once Kaya entered her foster home, her personality really started to blossom. Kaya LOVES water, and she demanded to be part of watering the garden and had so much fun running through the sprinklers daily.
