ArbFest Just Two Weeks Away!

The region's most enchanting summer garden party takes place at the Arboretum o n Thursday, July 20. Support this special green space while enjoying signature cocktails, a Renaissance-style feast, scenes and songs from Shakespeare's  A Midsummer Night's Dream , and more. Tickets: $125 to $250. RSVP by July 13.

Annual Meeting Report 

About 50 members and colleagues of the Foundation attended our Annual Meeting on June 21. Foundation Board President Sherrey Luetjen led the proceedings, which included speeches about our fiscal-year accomplishments and the election of new board members. The big news of the evening was the announcement by our Executive Director Paige Miller that she will be leaving us on August 4 for a new adventure in New Orleans.

Lovely Summer Bloomers at the Nursery!

Our  Plant Donations Nursery has a nice selection of summer-flowering plants for sale, including daylilies, sunflowers, bellflowers, and sedums. Our knowledgeable volunteers will be on-site this Saturday (July 8) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help you with your selections! All sales support the Arboretum!
The New Summer Garden

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Seattle Garden Club. To celebrate, the Arboretum is creating a new summer-themed garden on the north side of Azalea Way pond, using a grant from the Garden Club and matching funds from the Arboretum Foundation. Free UWBG Class: Inviting Birds and Bugs to Your Yard

On Monday, July 10, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., UW Botanic Gardens is offering a free class at the Center for Urban Horticulture on making your garden more hospitable to wildlife. Penny Bolton will teach you how native birds and beneficial bugs fit into the urban ecosystem and how you can create safe habitat for them in your yard.
