Navigating the New Normal: Compensation, Benefits, and Flexibility in Fundraising

The latest report from the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy offers a mixed bag of insights on the state of compensation and benefits within the fundraising profession. According to the 2024 Compensation and Benefits Report, the average fundraising salary in the U.S. saw a modest increase of 0.8% in 2023, rising from $95,841 to $96,621. This figure pales in comparison to the robust 6.7% increase seen in 2022, reflecting a slow growth trend that fails to keep pace with the 3% inflation rate over the same period. Read More

Giving USA 2023:

Help Stop Individual Giving Declines

For the last two years, the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy’s Fundraising Effectiveness Project has been reporting declines in key fundraising metrics including dollars donated, number of donors, and donor retention rate. Specifically, the Q4 2023 report, which was published in April of this year, noted a 2.8% YOY drop in dollars, a 3.4% drop in donors, and a 2.5% decrease in donor retention. Read More
