Two Minnesota Seasons - Winter & Construction!
The old saying is that Minnesota has only 2 seasons - Winter and Construction! We have seen a lot of construction around the district this summer. The most notable one for Community Education is the installation of a much-needed elevator at the Jefferson Activity Center. The hole in the ground is so big that everyone thinks we are putting in an outdoor pool! Work is progressing along with an anticipated completion date around the start of the school year. The entire main entrance to the JAC has been torn up, but visitors, members, and our adult fitness students are finding their way into the building by taking one of the pathways through the landscaping.

Metro South Students Learn about BPS Transportation

Metro South's students in the CDL (Commercial Driver's License) class were shown how the Bloomington Public Schools Transportation Department works. Students learned about job opportunities and had the chance to check out the district's line of buses. Students remarked that BPS Transportation seemed like a friendly place to work!

Students in this Career Pathways program also learn and practice interviewing skills and prepare for their CDL exam.

More Career Pathways classes will be scheduled during the 2018-19 school year and will include Construction, CDL, Phlebotomy, among the class listings.
