Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage Plan:
If you have coverage through the above plan, you may have received a letter at the beginning of July from Blue Cross Blue Shield telling you that after July 30th, Hopkins Center Drug, would no longer be able to fill your prescriptions as we would be out-of-network. THIS WAS AN ERROR, AND IS INCORRECT!!!
You should have, or will be, receiving a letter from Blue Cross Blue Shield rescinding their first letter. You will be able to continue filling your prescriptions at Hopkins Center Drug. We would like to thank all of you that brought this letter to our attention—we appreciate all of our wonderful customers!

Vaccination Updates:
COVID-19: We have administered all of our COVID-19 vaccine, and due to the current low demand for COVID vaccinations, we are not going to be ordering anymore vaccine into the store unless something would change with CDC recommendations. If you, or someone you know, is still looking to get a COVID vaccination, please visit the Minnesota Department of Health website at health.state.mn.us for a list of sites that are still providing vaccinations.
Shingrix (shingles) Vaccine: We continue to administer Shingrix vaccinations on an appointment basis. This vaccine is a series of 2 shots given 60 days apart. You are eligible to receive the Shingrix vaccine if you are 50 years or older. We recommend that you think about getting this vaccination before you age into Medicare. The reason we say this is because when you are still on a commercial insurance plan, your copay for the shot is usually your normal drug copay, or a zero copay for most people, even if you are on a High Deductible Health Plan. Once you age into Medicare, it is your Part D drug plan that pays for the shot, and usually the Shingrix vaccine goes towards meeting your deductible, and therefore can cost $170 to $190 per shot. So getting your vaccination as soon as you are eligible saves you money and protects you against shingles.
Flu Vaccine: We have on order for this fall both the High Dose Quad flu shot for Seniors, and the regular Quad vaccine for everyone else. Since we want you to be covered throughout the flu season, we do not start giving flu shots before October 1st. The past couple of years we have seen delays in the shipping of the High Dose vaccine. At this time, we are not aware of any delays, but we will keep you updated if we hear of any as we get closer to flu shot season. We will update you further in the September newsletter, and we will also post any updates on our website.

Hydration Tips
We are now entering the hottest days of the Summer, even though this year we have seen many above normal temperatures already! The Raspberry Festival usually always brings extremely hot temperatures with it. Remember to drink plenty of water while you are out enjoying all of the Raspberry Events. Here are some tips to help you do this:
- Add some fresh fruit to your water to give it a hint of flavor without adding a lot of calories. Popular choices are lemons, limes, oranges, strawberries, peaches and watermelon.
- Seltzer or sparkling water makes a great substitute for soda and an upgrade from plain water.
- Add water or ice to dilute sugary drinks like juice or lemonade.
- Carry a reusable water bottle with you, and fill it up as soon as it is emptied. You can get water bottles with filters in them, so the water tastes great even if you fill up your bottle from a drinking fountain while out and about.
- Eat your water. The following fruits and vegetables are high in water content: apples, blackberries, grapefruit, lemons, melons, peaches, pineapple, plums, oranges, celery, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, radishes and tomatoes.
Center Drug sells cold, refrigerated water bottles at our front counter for $0.50.
Stop in and purchase a water bottle before you hit Mainstreet for Family Day and the Marketplace Fair on Saturday the 17th, or before the Raspberry Parade on Sunday the 18th.
Also, remember Center Drug for your sunscreen needs this summer, and stop by just to shop and enjoy the air conditioning!
