Success Stories

Marshy Point

Marshy Point thanks you for your support! We had a successful Archaeology Dig Day at Marshy Point Nature Center with over 50 people who attended in June. It shows how important it is to record our history and share the information with our community. Each shovel test pit had a yield of various items including brick, glass, and sherds (pieces of ceramics). Everyone was excited when they found something made by the people of the past. Most items were from the mid 18th century through the mid 19th century. We welcome both spectators and those who have the ability to dig and sift to join us. Age restrictions for safety apply. Follow us on Facebook to keep up to date on future digging, cleaning, and documenting of the artifacts found. Many items can be viewed in the glass display case inside of the nature center. Please reach out through Marshy Point Nature Center's website or Facebook to become involved.
