Ministry highlights of
Sugar Creek Bible Camp
July/August 2022
I can't believe how quickly the summer has flown by. So many campers and so much fun. Just this morning I was on the MC porch and I could hear the lively chatter of campers as they walked down the valley. It brings joy to my heart and a smile to my face.

SUMMER FUN! SUMMER FUN! SUMMER FUN!
Best Wishes Kjell
The holy spirit calls us each to new adventures. We celebrate with Kjell as he starts his full time studies at Southern Seminary to become an ELCA pastor. We give thanks for his many faithful years at Sugar Creek. Kjell spent numerous years as a camper at Sugar Creek in his youth and later joined the staff as a counselor and then as a member of the summer leadership team. Kjell is completing 7 consecutive summers on staff, the last four years as Program Director. Please join us in thanking Kjell for a hard job well done. You will be truly missed.
Welcome Lucy Hardy, Interim Program Director
Hello! My name is Lucy Hardie. My family and I are so looking forward to moving back to the La Crosse area and more specifically the beautiful valley of Sugar Creek! My husband, Ross, and I were both summer counselors at SCBC when we were in college. And I was also a camper in middle and high school. I’ve continued to support camping ministry both here at Sugar Creek and Luther Park Bible Camp in Chetek, WI. In May of 2022, I graduated from Wartburg Seminary, and am currently waiting to start the first-call process.
We have a 3-year-old son, Samuel, and a wonderful dog, Dutch. I (and my family) am extremely grateful for this opportunity to serve and support camp during this time of transition in both our lives and camp’s life. It is with great excitement that I come back to the valley and ministry that has been so important to not only my call to ordained ministry but also my formation as a disciple of Christ. For however long this interim period lasts, I look forward to seeing you at camp and around the area. We have so many fun ways to experience camp this fall including the Fall Festival, youth retreats, scrapbooking or craft retreats, or your own personal retreats/family gatherings.
May you feel God’s Peace surround you always.

Monarchs at Sugar Creek
The monarch butterfly is one of the most recognizable on the planet. Its orange wings are laced with black lines and bordered with white dots. Famous for their seasonal migration, millions of monarchs migrate from the United States and Canada south to California and Mexico for the winter.
Monarchs were recently added to to the endangered species list because of shrinking habitat due and climate change.
