July Book Club News

July reading highlights include new historical fiction: Stars in His Eyes follows a chef's journey from Barcelona to Hollywood, and Meet Me in Monaco imagines a story involving Grace Kelly’s romance and wedding to Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1950s Côte d’Azur.

And two gripping thrillers offer plenty of suspense for summer reading:  Pretty Revenge asks how far someone will go for vengeance, and in The Two Lila Bennetts , a woman’s life splinters in two directions when she makes a life-changing decision. Book-inspired dishes from the pages of the novels include caviar, Marilyn Monroe’s favorite pasta and more!
Look for two Book Club Buzz giveaways coming this month. Maureen Stanton's memoir, Body Leaping Backward tells the haunting story of a self-destructive girlhood. And Adriana Trigiani's new novel Tony's Wife, depicts two working class kids who become a successful singing act until time and the responsibilities of family derail their dreams. Also, Adriana offers a family recipe that she imagines her characters preparing and enjoying.

Readers have asked for and shared menu ideas inspired by Where the Crawdads Sing . We’re happy to feature author Delia Owens's book club menu, along with her recipe for Pa's Hush Puppies , and a few Crawdads food pairings from book clubs (feel free to share yours)!
Our article and cocktail pairing (a perfect-for-summer Gin Rickey) for Noelle Salazar's new novel, The Flight Girls (Harlequin), the story of the WASP, or Women Airforce Service Pilots, is in July's  Costco Connection .
