CONCERED ABOUT A TOWN TREE?

Have noticed something that seems wrong about a specific Town Tree (i.e., one standing along our roadways, or within the Town's greenspaces)? If so, please share them with Paula Dix before July 24th. Your message to should include the tree tag number and what is of concern. At month's end, our Town Arborist will conduct a "walk-about", inspect each tree and follow up with recommendations.

FIREWORKS ARE PROHIBITED IN BEAUX ARTS VILLAGE

Independence Day is rapidly approaching and with it a reminder that the use of fireworks in Beaux Arts Village is strictly prohibited.  Our urban forest is an important feature of our town, and the use of fireworks puts it at risk.  Please plan to attend one of the area's professional fireworks displays instead.

For those with pets, please click HERE for important information from King County Animal Services.

LEASH LAW

Town of Beaux Arts follows the King County Animal Code. Dogs must be on leash or under voice control while on trails, streets, public right of way. There have been several reported incidents of off leash dogs charging people and other dogs on leash.  Contact King County Animal Control for help if needed.

STREET PARKING

Parking throughout the Village is always at a premium. We encourage all residents to take a moment to review the Town’s parking rules on our website, especially

  • No parking on the paved roadway leaving less than 10 feet of clearance or in the paved turnouts at any time.
  • Resident vehicles must be parked on the resident’s private property.
  • The unpaved rights-of-way along the paved road are for temporary guest parking. If you have guests who need to park on the right-of-way, please be courteous to your neighbors and have guests park in front of your property as much as possible.

SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING

Better weather means more people are out and about in the Village. Please remember to always lock your car doors and don't leave anything of value in plain sight. Also remove or hide anything a prowler might mistake as worth stealing. Signup for delivery notifications to know when packages will arrive or add delivery instructions if you will be gone when your package is scheduled to be delivered. If you see something suspicious, call 9-1-1.

UPCOMING TREE WORK

On July 9th, SavATree will be in the Village to remove a storm damaged bigleaf maple as well as three old and failing cherry trees along the Glen Path.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council met on Tuesday June 11th and conducted the following business:

  • Discussed results of the informal survey asking residents to weigh in on a proposal to switch from bi-weekly to weekly pick-up of recycling and yard waste (voluntary). Some councilmembers felt that the results were inconclusive; Councilmember Saal will undertake a contact survey after Clerk/Treasurer Spens confirms the cost differential.
  • Authorized the Mayor to execute two contracts related to work along the Glen Path: One with Encore Environmental to clear invasive plantings and regrade the right-of-way for an amount no to exceed $24,000.
  • The other with Lumo Landscaping to install the walking path and plantings for an amount not to exceed $24,000. Lumo Landscaping completed the Academy Path a few years ago.
  • Discussed a No-Camping Ordinance based on Mayor Howes’ discussions with other cities that contract with the King County Sheriff’s Office. These discussions will continue as Council learns more about the Town’s options.
