New ways to stay motivated and connected
Motivation comes in many forms. Blue skies and sunshine. A passerby with a smile and a wave. Friends and family. A quiet trail in the woods or along a stream. This year, we've all looked for new ways to stay motivated and positive.

With large gatherings on hold, using formal walking events and road races for motivation is not an option. But, we are here for you!

We are staying motivated by working on a couple exciting new projects to stay connected to you and hope they give you one more way to enjoy staying active.

Sincerely,
The Community First Fox Cities Marathon Team & Board of Directors

SCHEELS 10K added to Weekend of Events
We're exited to add a much requested distance to our weekend of events, the  SCHEELS 10K Run/Walk.   The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 at 9 a.m.

The course will start and finish at Riverside Park in Neenah, Wisconsin and was designed with the help of the City of Neenah’s traffic engineer to provide participants with scenic views of Lake Winnebago, the Fox River, historic neighborhoods and trails. There will be three on-course water stations available throughout this course. The SCHEELS 10K Run/Walk shares the start and finish with the Ascension 5K Run/Walk which is stroller- and dog-friendly.

“The 10K distance is one of the most requested races and we are thrilled to be able to bring the participants what they want,” said Tara Perre, Community First Fox Cities Marathon Race Director. “We are so grateful to SCHEELS for sponsoring this new event which is sure to add even more excitement to our Saturday events.”

Every Runner should be Swimming
Guest Blog by Katie Schalk
Wellness Coordinator at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA
Cross-training, or “engaging in two or more sports or types of exercise in order to improve fitness or performance in one's main sport,” (Dictionary.com, 2020) is incredibly important for well-balanced health and muscle development.

For runners, cross-training can take on many forms, each with their own specific benefit for your body and to becoming a better runner.

Swimming is one of the best exercises for someone who is an avid runner. Since swimming is a non-weight bearing activity, it relieves stress on your joints while providing a good cardio and muscle-building workout.
