VIRTUS

Dear Parents,

I hope you are enjoying your summer! It is hard to believe that we are half way through summer already, which means it is time to start thinking about next school year. Below you will find the list of faculty/staff for the 2026-2027 school year. We are fully staffed and our teachers are excited to be working with your children! The Diocese is still looking for help in our cafeteria. If you, or someone you know, are interested, please reach out to Laura Hatfield at lhatfield@covdio.org. You can also find the school supply list linked below in case you are wanting to get an early start. There is information about our summer Uniform Swap as well. We have TONS of uniform items in the office that will be up for grabs the week of July 27. Be sure to check it out while your kids are at VBS, which you can also register for below.

As many of you are aware, prior to COVID, St. Henry had bus service provided by Kenton County Schools. After COVID this service did not continue due to a shortage of bus drivers for Kenton County. To resume bus service would have required us to change the hours of our school day when the bus service was only available to a small percentage of our families. Families voted against this. Purchasing buses and doing our own busing has been considered several times over the years and there are always roadblocks that have come up in spite of the many advantages of having this service for our community. There is a group of parents that is going to begin researching the costs and logistics of providing bus service. Their goal is to look at what all we would need, the costs, the roadblocks, and come up with creative solutions to see if we can make this possible. I will be consulting with this group as well. If you are interested in being a part of the conversation and helping with this work, there will be an initial meeting on Tuesday, July 21 at 8:00am in the Media Room. Anyone who wants to help is invited.

I wanted to remind you about a couple of important dates to make sure that they are on your calendar.

  • July 21- Bus conversation- 8:00am in Media Room
  • August 14- New Parent Night from 6:30pm-7:30pm (An opportunity for new families to meet other parents, and have their questions answered about what to expect as you start at St. Henry)
  • August 16- Readyfest from 12:30pm-2:00pm
  • August 18- 1st Day of School- Noon Dismissal

Finally, I want to thank everyone for their support of St. Henry's summer festival! It was a huge success financially and was a great opportunity for us to come together as a community. Once the final reports are in, we will share more details on how much we made. Thank you again for your support!

Enjoy the rest of your summer and keep your kids working on their summer work!

God Bless,

Kimberly Wagner, Principal

On Becoming a Catholic Christian

"If you are thinking of becoming a Christian, I warn you, you are embarking on something which is going to take the whole of your brains and all. But, fortunately, it works the other way around. Anyone who is honestly trying to be a Christian will soon find his intelligence being sharpened: one of the reasons why it needs no special education to be a Christian is that Christianity is an education itself." (C.S.Lewis, p.78 "Mere Christianity")

Contrary to some beliefs, Catholics are Christians. The Catholic Church is the only Church that can trace its roots all the way back to Jesus Christ and the early Christians found in the Acts of the Apostles. Did you know the Bible is a Catholic book? Which came first? The Church or the Bible? Where else can you have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ than in the reception of his body, blood, soul, and divinity under the forms of consecrated bread and wine in the Eucharist? Why have record numbers of people joined the Catholic Church this past Easter? We must have something different to offer.

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process through which people pass on their way to entrance into the Catholic Church. We meet every Sunday at 10:30 AM with those to whom Jesus has said, "Come and See." What is keeping you from joining us? For more information, please call the parish office, 859-727-2035, to set up an appointment with a team member.

🩸Our next Hoxworth Blood Drive will be on Tuesday, July 21, at St Henry Catholic Parish. Save a life! Donate blood! 🩸
