Congratulations to the 2022 graduates who recently completed the Leadership Essentials (LE) program in June. LE, instituted by Leadership Howard County in 2007 and now managed by Loyola University Maryland’s Center for Continuing Education, is a unique six-month leadership development program that allows participants to stretch their leadership potential and contribute significantly to their organizations, their families, and their community.

The program consists of three core components: leadership skill development workshops, a leadership coach relationship, and a Community Impact Project. The skill-building workshops are focused on one or more specific leadership topics – team building, relationships, presentation skills, program impact, and goal setting – and include a self-assessment, exercises, and reflections to sharpen critical skills necessary for effective leadership.

It is an exciting time as we prepare to launch LE 2023! We're looking forward to recruiting another fantastic cohort, Leadership Coaches and Community Impact Project (CIP) Hosts for the new program year, and be on the look for an upcoming announcement about hiring a new program consultant.

Make plans to be a part of LE 2023 and/or share this information with those who may be a good fit for our program! It's a great time to visit LE's webpage for program updates. The application will be available soon (the submission deadline is October 10, 2022). Information sessions are being planned for August and September – stay tuned for details on those events. Email Lori Fuchs for more information about the program, to send a participant, or to volunteer!
Does your non-profit organization have a project or issue but not the time, expertise, or staff to research or further address? Leadership’s Community Impact Projects (CIP) may be the answer! To date, over 120 organizations have benefited from a Leadership CIP team!

Click here to learn more and to submit an application; the deadline to apply is July 14, 2022. Please reach out to Sasha Butler with any questions.
The start of a new fiscal year also means it's time to renew your LHC dues! Be on the lookout for a separate dues-renewal communication scheduled to be electronically distributed next week. Please be advised that annual membership rates are slightly increasing to:
  • Leadership Premier Standard/Business - $210
  • Leadership Premier Retiree & Non-Profits (with less than 25 employees) - $110
  • Leadership Essentials - $60

The Leadership 500 Individual Membership will remain at $500; $350 for retirees, non-profits (with less than 25 employees), and Leadership Essentials alumni. The L500 membership covers yearly dues and includes, by paying in advance, the cost to attend our regular General Membership breakfast and lunch events, our Thought Leaders Series, and the annual Big Event. Plus, L500 members earn double "Best Class Ever" points for paying dues.

Auto-renewal payments will automatically be adjusted on July 1, 2022. You may click here to get a jump on paying your dues before receiving the official renewal notice. Please contact Karen Bryant with any questions and thank you, in advance, for your continued support!
Primary elections are coming up on July 19 and LHC encourages everyone to be informed and get to know the candidates. The League of Women Voters (LWV) recently held a Candidate Forum on June 15, providing an opportunity for candidates to address the issues and share their respective positions. Please click on the links below to access relevant information and go to the polls prepared.

LHC is also pleased to recognize graduates running for various offices and has noted links to their individual sites for more information.
