Thank you for Supporting TCOA!
The 38th Annual Meals on Wheels Charity Golf Outing held on June 17, 2026 at Forest Akers West was a huge success!
We couldn't have asked for a better time together to raise funds for essential services for older adults and adults with disabilities.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our amazing sponsors — with special recognition to our Event Sponsors, Jackson and Consumers Energy — as well as the fantastic teams, table sponsors, and the many volunteers who came out to support a great cause.
Thanks to your generosity, we're able to continue providing home-delivered meals and in-home services for older adults and adults with disabilities across the Tri-County Area.

Virtual Connections -
Helping older adults stay connected and healthy through technology
| | |
A message from our partners at the MSU School of Social Work:
Can you imagine what your life would be like if you were not able to use your smartphone for anything more than receiving and making calls? Unfortunately, many older adults are in this position, which impacts their ability to access many services including health care, connect with family and friends, take and enjoy photos, and do many things we enjoy.
MSU VIRTUAL CONNECTIONS is a grant-funded learning opportunity helping older adults stay healthy and connected through technology. Coaches are needed to assist older adults learning how to safely use their smartphones while completing several tasks like personalizing their Android or iPhone to suit their visual and audio needs, checking email, messaging, sending photos, and connecting with healthcare providers through video calls.
If you are interested in helping others learn, plan to attend one of the next Smartphone Coaches Trainings at the MSU Federal Credit Union at Farm Lane and Hagadorn in East Lansing. The next two training events are on July 24th from 10-11 am, and on September 28th from 2-3 pm. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
At the end of the training, you will be just about ready to put your new coaching skills to use during an upcoming Smartphone Skill Building series. Skill Building sessions are held for 60-90 minutes per week for six weeks and will be scheduled in the Fall.
The Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA) is one of our community partners. They are supporting Virtual Connections by completing background checks on all volunteer coaches. You can start this process at any time. To do so, please contact Kayla Nichols at volunteer@tcoa.org.
Learn more about Virtual Connections and get access to our free resources by checking out our website at https://socialwork.msu.edu/programs/Community-Programs/virtual-connections/index.html. People who want to participate as learners in the smartphone skill building sessions can let us know through a form on the website.
To sign up for either training event or ask any questions, email us at virtualconnect@msu.edu or leave a message at (313) 474-0525 and we will be happy to return your call.
