Meet our New Board Chair!

We're excited to announce and welcome the Charles River Conservancy's new board chair, Lonsdale Koester! Lonsdale serves as the Director of Stewardship at Trinity Church and resides in Cambridge. A "serial do-gooder," Lonsdale has been on the CRC's board for almost 4 years, coming to the role with many years of nonprofit and political/public sector leadership expertise. In her spare time, you might find her canoeing in the Charles River with her family or enjoying one of the many parks along it.

Our 6th Annual Community Swim
On Charles River Swimming Day, we had over 300 participants in the river, some splashing with us and others swimming in the Charles River Swimming Club’s One Mile Swim, with many more on land enjoying lawn games, good food, and other activities! We’re inspired by all of you who share a passion for urban river swimming with us, and it gave us so much joy to see your smiling faces in the water. We will continue to advocate for the river’s water quality and look forward to the day when regular swimming is back in the Charles.

Swimming in the Charles and this once-a-year opportunity are only possible with a Special Use Permit from the Department of Conservation and Recreation, as well as with the support of those who care about the river, including the community, our partners and our sponsors: Cambridge Trust Charitable Foundation, Sanofi, DivcoWest, Sasaki Foundation, CambridgeSide, Harvard University, CSL Consulting, Mintz, Currier, Lane & Young, The Boston Foundation, Boston University, L3Harris, and Northeastern.
