NOAS is happy to celebrate

Kelly and Ferrin's Adoptions

Kelly was adopted after spending 1,413 days in foster care. Adoptions are something we love to celebrate.

Ferrin was full of smiles after his adoption day on July 11th. We couldn't be happier for him and his family.

National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month

Visit NMMHAM for additional information, shareable social media messages, downloadable graphics, and health resources.

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, an opportunity for us to bring awareness to the unique struggles that racial and ethnic minority communities face regarding mental illness in the United States. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it harder for racial and ethnic minority groups to access mental health and substance use treatment services.

Throughout the month of July, the Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health

(HHSOMH) will focus on promoting tools and resources addressing the stigma about mental health among racial and ethnic minority populations, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW OHIOKAN NAVIGATORS AT NOAS

NOAS is proud to partner with OhioKAN, a statewide flexible and responsive kinship and adoption navigator program designed to assist children, caregivers, and families.

With the support of dedicated NOAS staff, OhioKAN’s 100% free services will help kinship and adoptive families navigate and connect with all of the resources available locally and statewide.

Our service area has recently gained the services of two OhioKAN navigators, Denise Rising and Catrese Discerni. Denise and Catrese are a wonderful addition to the NOAS team.

We are thrilled to invite you to our 9th Annual Home Team Celebration held at the Metropolitan at The 9 in Cleveland, OH.

CONNECT OUR KIDS COMPETITION

Our Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiters held a “Connect Our Kids” competition from 4/4/22 to 6/22/22 challenging them to a contest to see who could identify the most connections for our kids. NOAS was the first agency in Ohio to be trained on the Connect Our Kids tool. Connect Our Kids is a tool that forms diagrams illustrating a person's family members, how they are related, and their medical history. These diagrams can lead to connections for our kids which can lead to a relationship, a placement and possibly a forever home. The goal of the contest was to identify the most connections for all kids on the each of the recruiters’ caseloads. Sonnie Provitt won the competition with 2,100 connections. Heather Garrett took second place with 1,941 connections and Laura Murray third with 1,704 connections. Congratulations to our entire Wendy’s Wonderful Kid Recruiting Team who formed a total amount of 7,528 connections for our kids.
