Deacons News
Deacons Fund – Did you Know? Our Churches Deacons’ Fund distributes over thirty-five food baskets to needy area families each Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. The Fund also provides short-term emergency financial assistance to families in distress. The Deacons’ Fund receives the loose offering four Sundays each year. If you would like to enable more such good works, designated gifts are cheerfully accepted. Just make a check out “The Congregational Church of Hollis”, and mark the memo line “Deacons Fund”. If you have any questions contact Kevin Duquette or any of the other Deacons at Deacons@hollischurch.org

The next loose offering for the Deacons Fund will be July1st.
Stewardship News
Announcing the Stewardship Summer Challenge!
This summer, as a preview to our fall campaign, we would like to invite you to take part in our “Share Your Love” Summer Challenge by sharing your time and talent!

Based on the UCC 3 Great Loves Campaign - emphasizing 3 Great Loves in service to our communities - Love of Neighbor, Love of Children & Love of Creation - we are asking that you Share Your Love in the community, and then tell us about it.

Maybe the way you Share Your Love is to answer the suicide hotline, or visit a nursing home or help an elderly neighbor. Maybe your kids hold a lemonade stand for a great cause, or clean up trash on the roadside, or a hundred other ways that you may Share Your Love with your time and talent… We are asking that you take a few pictures along the way and either post them to the Church’s Facebook page, email them to Stewardship@hollischurch.org . If you know someone who may not have internet, invite them to drop off a note/picture including their name to our Stewardship mailbox in the church office.

We will collect them and share them at our Stewardship Celebration this fall for all to see how you “Share Your Love” in the community. There will even be a randomly selected submission chosen for a small prize at the end of the summer! Thank you!
Faith Formation (Christian Education) News
Summer Activity Time for Kids on July 15th and August 19th 
While our weekly Sunday School classes are on a break until September, we will be offering kids’ activity time during the 9:30 service twice over the summer. Games and activities will be provided for PreK-Grade 5, and nursery care upon request. Any questions please email  CE@hollischurch.org .
Vacation Bible School!
We're looking forward to a fun and exciting four mornings of VBS on July 23 - 26 from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.!

Teen (grade 7 and over) and adult volunteers are needed to make VBS a success.  You can sign up for a few hours, a morning, or all four days. Contact CE@hollischurch.org to volunteer.  
Fellowship & Hospitality (F&H) News
All-church Mid-Summer Outing & Cookout at Rocky Pond!
Mark your calendars!  Come enjoy the water, outdoors, fellowship and food. The Fellowship & Hospitality Committee invite you to the third annual all-church Mid-summer Outing & Pot-Luck Cookout at Rocky Pond (at the Boy Scout beach) on Wednesday, July 25th at 5 pm (raindate 7/26). Beverages, chicken, hot dogs and veggie burgers will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share and maybe even a friend! Lawn/beach chairs, outdoor games, and guitars are welcome. RSVPs and volunteers are greatly appreciated to FandH@hollischurch.org .

Building our Vision Update

On Sunday, June 10 in Hardy Hall after the worship service, the Building Our Vision committee presented the second progress report on the planned church renovation. Tom Hildreth highlighted the changes in the plans since the May 6 presentation. Our architect, Dennis Mires, presented the detailed changes to the floor plans and the site plan since then, and showed an interactive 3D walk-through of the updated plans. Drew Mason explained how these changes to our church building and grounds live out our strategic plan.

All members of the church are encouraged to look at the proposed plans and watch the presentation, and think about them over the summer. Click HERE  to view the brochure that was handed out at the meeting (which includes the proposed floor plans and site plan) and to watch a video of the complete presentation, including questions and feedback.

Although this was the last presentation until this fall, the Building Our Vision committee will continue to collect feedback and revise the proposed plans during this summer. BoV and the architect will continue to meet over the summer and begin the process of coordinating our plans with town officials, and, in parallel, also begin essential site/civil engineering and surveying.

BOV will determine a new date for a recommended plan and a new date for a congregational vote on taking those plans to contractual drawings. Dates will depend on progress made with the fire chief over the summer and an assessment of where we are as a congregation.

Being the very active church that we are, there are ALWAYS events and activities happening. Summer slows down a bit, but just look at the summer calendar and you’ll see there are MANY things going on throughout the summer (e.g. VBS, Mission Trip, F&H events, etc.). The Communication Ministry Team would greatly appreciate it if people:
  1. TAKE pictures or videos, and
  2. Post any pictures or videos they take on the church Facebook group AND/OR email them to news@hollischurch.org AND/OR send them through cell phone text messaging to 603-966-7559 (Cindy Ryherd).

Mission Trip News

Packing the trailer - Saturday, July 7th, 9-11am
We will have the trailer parked at the church during this time for work campers to drop off their bags fully packed! When you drop off your bag, you will also get your work camp t-shirt! We ask that each camper (or one donation per family) brings a donation of small Gatorades, or bottled water for us to have throughout the week. If for some reason you cannot make this drop of time, please try to arrange to leave your bag with a friend who is also going on the trip, who can bring your bag, and pick up your shirt for you.

Departing for Wallingford - Sunday, July 8th, 9:30am
We will be attending the 9:30 church service this morning and be recognized by the congregation and commissioned during the service. We will leave immediately following the service at 10:30am. Please wear your work camp t-shirt to the service!
Prayer Shawl Update
Sixty-three! That's how many prayer shawls to be taken on the mission trip were blessed at the June 24th service! Our goal was 42 so we exceeded that goal by 50%!

Thank you to EVERYONE who took the time to make the many, many beautiful shawls. We're sure the recipients will greatly appreciate them!
Music Board Update
Calling All Musicians! All are encouraged to sign up to provide music for the summer 9:30 a.m. worship services . There are plenty of opportunities available on the sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board outside the church office.  
Upcoming Summer Concert
Monadnock Music Concert, Sunday, July 15th at 3pm!

The mission of Monadnock Music is to make classical music accessible to all. For the first time, Hollis is honored to be a host of the Monadnock Music Village Concert Series. The Monadnock Music Piano Quintet will feature the music of Tobias Picker and Franz Schubert. Admission is free, however, a goodwill offering is welcome from attendees to help pay for the cost of the program. Immediately following the concert, light refreshments will be served. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the concert.

July and August Items of the Month:
For July & August , please support the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter's Backpacks for Back to School program. Besides the items below, they will need volunteers to help sort, organize, assemble & distribute in August. More specific information will be available on their webpage in June.
Deadline for the school supplies is Wednesday, August 8 th .
  • New backpacks for boys and girls of all ages, K – grade 12
  • Boxes of 24 count Crayola crayons
  • Boxes of colored pencils (bright or bold)
  • #2 pencils in the 12 or 24 count
  • Small handheld pencil sharpeners
  • Glue sticks
  • Children’s Scissors
  • 8 GB flash drives
Please place all donations in the shopping cart at the top of the stairs. Thank you for supporting these community needs!
Nashua Children’s Home
The Mission & Action Committee visited the Nashua Children’s Home in June. The facility holds approximately 70 children and is full. Children come from all walks of life as well as many different circumstances. Often times the children are pulled from their home and sent there by DCYF. Some children are there for a short period of time and others are there for many years.

We asked how we could help and monetary assistance with the summer camps was suggested. All of the children would like to go, but funds are limited. The price of a week of camp ranges from $90.00 to $225.00 a week . If you would like to donate, you can make your check out to the Nashua Children’s Home @ 125 Amherst St, Nashua NH 03064. There is a list of the camps on the M & A bulletin board in the Hall.
Looking for a way to volunteer in our community? 
M & A is looking for someone to organize Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity builds for our church. We have had 2 groups participate in Nashua over the last year and had a wonderful experience. If you would like more information on what this would entail, please contact Joyce Pepin at 603-566-1250 or joycepepin64@gmail.com .

Summer Church Office Hours
From mid-June through mid-August, the church office will be open only Thursdays and Fridays, 8am – 12 noon .
Summer Worship Schedule continues throughout July, and August with a single worship service at 9:30 a.m. Our two-service schedule resumes on Homecoming Sunday, September 9th.
