We’re Hiring: Community Consultant (Sport, Culture & Recreation Champion)
Location: Anywhere in the beautiful Lakeland District | Full-Time | Flexible Hours
Are you a community builder at heart? Do you believe in the power of sport, culture, and recreation to bring people together? Do you know your way around a grant application like a boss and have a knack for turning ideas into action? Then you might be our next Community Consultant!
The Lakeland District for Sport, Culture and Recreation (LDSCR) is looking for someone dynamic, dedicated, and passionate to help strengthen and support the amazing communities across our region.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Acting as the go-to person for community groups, rec boards, and local legends who make things happen.
- Connecting communities with provincial sport, culture, and recreation opportunities.
- Helping local groups dream big (and find the funding to make it real).
- Supporting programs that reflect what people actually need and want.
- Running consultations, building partnerships, and championing volunteerism.
- Promoting events and programs like a marketing wizard (social media skills welcome).
- Keeping your finger on the pulse of community needs—then helping turn those needs into awesome initiatives.

National Drowning Prevention Week
National Drowning Prevention Week promotes awareness of the drowning prevention problem in Canada and the need for individuals, communities, organizations, and government to take action in an effort to save lives. Drowning is preventable!
National Drowning Prevention Week occurs every year in mid-July, when Canada's drowning rate is at its highest. This year, NDPW will take place from July 20 - 26, 2025.
In 2025, National Drowning Prevention Week will include World Drowning Prevention Day, which occurs every year on July 25.

ArchaeoCaravan
Bring archaeology alive with the ArchaeoCaravan! This mobile activity centre travels the province with our summer staff and is available upon request.
Activities
Our ArchaeoCaravan program includes a number of activities:

Free Regional Park Pass Program Returns this Summer!
The Regional Park Pass Lending Program is back in 2025!
From June 16 to September 15, 2025, people with a valid library card can borrow a pass from any Saskatchewan library and enjoy a seven-day loan period with free access to nearly 100 regional parks across the province.
This year, 864 passes will be distributed to all regional library branches, libraries in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, and university libraries in Saskatoon and Regina.

Culture Days registration open
Registration is now open for organizers to add their interactive arts, culture, or heritage experiences to the nationwide network of free events, activities, and more happening during Culture Days 2025.
Registering an event allows you to take advantage of free promotional campaigns while also supporting artists and creators in your community. Organizers ready to register an event /activity can sign in or create an account by visiting the Culture Days website.

Future-Proof Your Aging Ice Rink
The Climate Ready Infrastructure Service (CRIS), in collaboration with SUMA, is launching a 12-week Ice Rink Cohort in Summer/Fall 2025. Municipalities with populations under 30,000 are invited to participate in this no-cost program focused on upgrading aging ice rinks.
Participation includes access to energy and emissions experts, 4 interactive webinars, and 60 hours of tailored one-on-one guidance.

PHCD is designed for recreation and sport leaders working with children aged four to twelve. Through this, you will learn how to develop and deliver programs that are fun, engaging, and encourage long term participation in recreation and sport programs.
