Mark Burkett & Jeanne McLeish will be our featured Artist Members in July, with both artists hosting a live demonstration during the Village Art Walk on July 9 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Jeanne will demonstrate her award-winning watercolor techniques and Mark will demonstrate his woodblock print process. This is an Art Walk you don't want to miss!
Jeanne McLeish was born in Clinton, Indiana in 1951. Jeanne began painting in 1970. Working in both watercolor and oil, she creates images that reflect her deep love of nature as well as her fascination with color and light.
Her paintings have been included in numerous annual exhibitions including the Hoosier Salon, Indiana Heritage Arts, Watercolor Society of Indiana, Indiana Artists Club, Wabash Valley Exhibition, Realism Today, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. Awards include Best of Show in both the Watercolor Society of Indiana 2004 and the Indiana Artists Club Annual 2009.
She is a Signature Member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, a Cardinal Fellow of the Watercolor Society of America, and Jeanne is also a member of the Indiana Artists Club, the Hoosier Salon Patron's Association, the Indiana Heritage Arts, and the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association.
Her artwork can be found in many private and public collections, including the Tippecanoe Courthouse permanent collection (Lafayette, IN), the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, IN), the Swope Museum of Art (Terre Haute, IN), St. Francis Hospital (Mooresville, IN) and in the Indiana Govenor's Residence Collection and the Indiana State Museum's permanent collection (Indpls, IN). Jeanne has been a member of the Brown County Art Guild since 1979.

Mark Burkett received his BFA from Indiana State University, specializing in printmaking. He is an architectural illustrator, and his paintings are included in the collections of Rose-Hulman Institute, Sheldon Swope Art Museum, Columbia Club of Indianapolis, and the Cleveland Clinic. They are also published in Painting Indiana II, The Changing Face of Agriculture (IU Press 2007).
In 2011, Mark served as the National Park Service's artist in residence at the Indiana Dunes National Lake Shore Park (along with Jeanne McLeish). He is a member of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, the Hoosier Salon, and the Indiana Artists Club. His artwork can be found in private and public collections, including the Indiana State Museum's permanent collection (Indianapolis, IN).
He says he finds painting from life to be much more rewarding than copying a photo with a brush. Mark has been a member of the Brown County Art Guild since 1995.

Charlene Marsh will be hosting her 3rd Annual Fourth of July Weekend Open House and Exhibition, Charlene Marsh Studio and Gallery, Nashville, Indiana July 2-3, 2016. Visitors to Brown County State Park can see Charlene painting regularly, en plein air, as part of the Arts in the Park project grant she received. The 92nd Annual Hoosier Salon Exhibition will be on display July 28- September 24, 2016 at the Eugene & Marilyn Glick History Center in Indianapolis. This September, as part of the Arts in the Parks program,
Mark Burkett and
Jeanne McLeish will spend a week painting, hiking and talking with visitors on the trails in their favorite state park, Shades. Plein air paintings, sketches and a little information about the area's role in Indiana's art history will be shared with the public during a presentation at 1:00 p.m. at the Dell Shelter on October 1.
Completed paintings from the project will be displayed at the Waveland Public Library November 1 - 21 with an artists' reception November 4 from 2 - 4 p.m.
Allen Hutton had
three paintings accepted in the 60th Annual June Art Exhibit at the Wassenberg Art Center in Van Wert Ohio. One of his pieces earned him the Charles Wassenberg Award.
