INCOMING FAMILY NEWSLETTER
July 8, 2021
Greetings!
July is here! The summer is truly flying by and as we reach a mid-way point, now is a good time to check in with your student regarding their progress on Tribe Guide Checklist items. This week's newsletter contains important information about health insurance, vaccination requirements, scholarship opportunities, and more.

Following last week's flash sale, we have restocked Class of 2025 gear and all sizes are now available for purchase. If you were unable to secure a certain size or item, be sure to check the store this week before we sell out for the summer.

Finally, this week's Family Friday has been postponed. Keep an eye on this newsletter for the new date. If you have missed a Family Friday they are available on our website for on-demand viewing. Please know our office's email inbox and phone line are ready for your questions Monday-Friday 8 AM - 5 PM.

Sincerely,
Heather Deere, M.S.

JULY NEWS
The Tribe Guide
The Tribe Guide is your student's one-stop online source for information about what they need to do before they arrive in Williamsburg this fall. Students should review their progress on the following items:

Due July 9th: College Studies, Part 1

Reminder - it is your student's responsibility to complete all items in the checklist. Ask open-ended questions to determine their progress on items listed above and how you can best support them in completing their to-do's.

College Studies Due!
All new students who have accepted an offer of admission and made a tuition deposit will be enrolled in an online mini-course known as College Studies.

This course is an important step in understanding academics at the university.

This requirement is ONLY for Class of 2025 students and JDP students. Part 1 is due 7/9 in order to participate in summer registration!
Scholarship Opportunity!
Your student is eligible to apply to the Powell Leadership Scholarship. This one-time merit-based scholarship will be given to an incoming freshman who has displayed leadership in high school within the context of clubs, sports teams, student government, and other outside activities. The award for this year is $2,200.

Students should submit a list of activities and an essay of up to 1,000 words that describes how their involvement has contributed to their understanding of effective leadership. Students should include their name, address, telephone, and email address in their application.

The link to join will be provided closer to the event.
Meal Plans & More
Recording Available
Meal plans come in many different shapes and sizes, conveniently tailored for the varying needs of individual students living both on and off-campus. How will your student choose a meal plan? Parent & Family Council
The Parent & Family Council (PFC) is a community of parent donors and volunteer leaders who are dedicated to increasing parent engagement and philanthropy, promoting William & Mary, and strengthening the Tribe family. PFC families enhance student life and student success initiatives by giving and raising vital funds for the Parents Fund and programs across the university. As parent ambassadors, PFC members welcome new Tribe families and help them navigate life with a college student. Members also meet faculty and administrators, provide parent perspectives to William & Mary’s senior leadership, and learn about university initiatives and priorities.
